P.S. Great about keeping on top of the washing! I had so much ironing waiting to be done that I watched one episode of 'Little Women' and two of Paul Hollywood while catching up. :D That's three hours!! Ad there are only three of us. :o

Thanks for sharing that passage Parsniphead. It resulted in a lightbulb moment for me :)

Me too DIA. It kind of said it all.
I do believe that every now and then we have to stop... either to stand back and reassess what we're doing, or just to slump for a day or so until the mojo has recharged.

I hope things are better today... once DS is feeling okay again and the car is nice, if you get the charity things out and actually dropped off (not left in the boot - that's our star turn!) you will be able to see the wood for the trees again. I still really admire your ability to let go. It just doesn't come naturally to me!

Something else in your post resonated with me so am dropping you a pm, if only to talk shop for two minutes!

Thanks for the PM cherry. I have sent a reply.

It made me laugh when you said about me having the ability to let go. I am completely the opposite and struggle with very single decision. I'm obviously selling a lie :rotfl:.

There are only three of us too and I don't know how it got so out of control. It's one thing I'm usually ok with. It's back to normal now so I need to keep an eye on it.

I've just popped to the local shops to book an eye test. It's a small place but has two opticians......both closed. Oh well I needed the walk. While there my blood sugar started to drop so I got a pork roll and a bottle of water and sat on the park 15 minutes to eat and drink. It was so strange just sitting there alone and doing nothing.....well apart from stuffing my face ;). It's something im going to start doing more often. Perhaps Wednesday's after dropping off DS to school or before picking him up. I really enjoyed it and could have stayed there for a couple of hours watching people go by.

While I was sitting there the local druggie/prossie came wandering along and started to head towards me (she likes to beg of folks who are alone). Anyway when she got close enough and saw it was me, then she turned on her heels and hotfooted it away. :rotfl: Skanky mare lived in our street for a short while (when not incarcerated for robbing old folks) and caused all sorts of trouble. It's amazing how much trouble and what change one person can bring on an area. She knows not to come anywhere near me.:rotfl: I'm nice really but not if you rub me up the wrong way.

I need to get my bum into gear today as the past two days have been nothingness apart form buying a bulb for my headlight. I would love to get out into the garden but I'm getting less tough as I get older. Plus the cold makes my joints scream.

I think I may go and clear up the orbeez squashed all over my sewing table and cut out a dress after some room tidying. Operation bin the jeggings :eek: is in full swing.:T I need new clothes.

    Have a good weekend all.

I was completely taken in. :rotfl: So how do you do it? I very occasionally have phases where I can see the wood for the trees and know what to keep and what to let go, but that's maybe once or twice a year on a good year. Other times I hold onto stuff for any reason and can't tell what I might need, miss or want in future.

I'm UST sick to death of looking like a frumpy, middle aged old bag to be honest. This is not helped by working at a college and being surrounded by young, non wrinkled students.:rotfl:

Cherry, I can find a reason to keep anything. I'm officially emotionally attached to all DS's stuff but have been working on this slowly. Also being a bit of a squirrel tickler ihate to see stuff being thrown out for the sake of it. Not surprisingly I have in the past rescued not only my own stuff but others too. When people found that out i became the local tip because it saves them the bother of going to the actual tip. I've had tables and alsorts given to me in the past, hence my slightly hoarded house. Now I say no. I can't single handedly save the planet.

Well its the last day of the year. I don't like new years eve, I always feel sad thinking about people gone getting further away.

I hope you all have a nice day and I look forward to us all achieving next year.

  • You seem to be doing well on the de-cluttering front, considering you find it hard to let go of things. That was a good quote too, very thought provoking.

I can feel a bit sad about a new year sometimes when I think of people I wish were still here to go into 2018 with me. But mostly I see it as a chance for a fresh start and to reset my life.

Happy new year everyone. I managed to stay up but missed the actual moment as I was having a wee (sorry). I thought it was much earlier actually. Anyway I hope this year is good to us all as we all deserve it.

I have spent the past day or so reading diaries like a crazy person. I swear I could make it a full time job. Its amazing to reqd what everyone is achieving but it does make me feel inadequate at times and like I could do much better.

This year coming is going to be the most frugal one yet but while living a life at the same time. I recently read Kath Kellys 'live on a pound a day for a year' or whatever its called and felt I needed to think about what I'm doing more.

Yes, she was a single lady with no kids living in a rented room in a house but she thought out of the box. Something I need to do much more of.

We have so many options available and yes, some may be hard work, but the payoff [STRIKE]would[/STRIKE], no, will be amazing. I'm feeling exceptionally excited for the future. The plans for the year are large with some big house expenses coming up, but with some though and organisation :rotfl: they can be achieved.

This year I will appreciate each step taken rather than just looking at what to do next. I have two more days off before going back to work and some of that time will solely dedicated to me but the rest on being proactive.

There is so much going through my head, so much I need and want to do it can become overwhelming but I will do it and end this year successfully.

Oh and apparently the year coming is the year of the dog......and I'm a dog (no uncouth jokes please) so I have to end the year with a waggy tail.

Tea tonight is solely from the fridge/freezer so that's a good start. Perhaps one day I will see the bottom of the freezer. :rotfl:

    Anyway I must get on.

    Have a fab day. P x
