I know how you mean about someone mentioning decorating and it causing a revolution in your own home! I wish I had as much mojo as you do though :).

This is the perfect time of year to stock up on cosy pjs... summer ones seem much less satisfying somehow. I did the KM thing with undies, socks, pjs and shoes a year ago and it was very useful. So nice not to have socks that kept slipping, for instance. I stopped short of a full-on KM declutter with other things though: I'm just not brave enough!

Just cheering you on really :)

  • Thanks Cherryfudge. I do need to get some new pjs and to be honest I don't have special summer ones as I tend to feel the slightest draft (which is a really stupid statement to make living in this house).

Anyway this morning I have been looking for an appointment letter I have lost. I need to book time off in the new year so it has to be found today and I had a bit of an epiphany. I have decided to go around my house today (once said letter has been found) and take photos of every room. Then I'm going to do some mood/project/challenge boards in the sewing room and hopefully by next year I will be able to see the difference I have made. I'm going to take off the pressure for once and give myself a full year. This is good for someone who wants everything done now.;)

Debt will be plodded on with but extra payments made as and when I have extra cash.

I will hopefully be busy enough to cut back on stuffing my face when at home so will lose weight too.

Oh and the garden needs LOTS of work after the destruction caused by the tree person. A traditional garlic planting will take place Boxing Day.

Right I MUST find this letter. Why am I so flippin disorganised.

    Have a good Sunday. X

That's a great ideas INOD. If I could possibly find plain ones. I have this strange thing about having pictures on my clothes. It's odd I know.

I know I keep vanishing and when I come back you can't get rid of me, I'm sorry. But posting is the only way to keep going.

I'm still at it and find myself currently under a pile of plastic clutter in my sewing room. I've still not found the letter. :o I don't want to do my usual thing of piling it into a bag to sort later because it never gets done, but I'm quickly running out of time.

It's been an interesting day. Step son and his GF turned up with a gift for his dad. Nothing for his six year old brother but what does he matter....can you tell Im cross. Well three times I spoke to stepson and three times I was blanked. It's beginning to get very, very hard to keep my mouth shut and keep the peace. Next time I swear there will be a near nuclear explosion. Luckily they left after about an hour and a half. I just carried on with my decluttering.

When I do start clearing out it does make me realise what a state I have to deal with. The past year of so called decluttering has made virtually no difference. Will this ever end. :o:mad:. I'm not going to stop though, not until it's done. I could do with a skip, a couple of bottles of vodka and just go for it. I would never know what had gone and it would be less painful, :rotfl: well until the hangover.

I'm off now to take a pile down to mums. Another bit rid off. :j

    Hi PH

I totally empathise with you on the decluttering  I'm no further on than I was this time last year!

The plans you have in place sound good... I may just copy them (if I can get my backside into gear) :rotfl:

With regard to Stepson and GF, I'm afraid I would just refuse to have them in my home.... can you not speak to OH quietly and tell him to arrange to meet them somewhere other than your home... they are after all disrespecting his wife and youngest son. I wouldn't give them the satisfaction of 'blowing up' in front of them, but it needs to be sorted with OH so he can make alternative arrangements. Does he not say anything when all this is going on... and if not then why not?

Hope you find your letter quickly ((hugs))

You are not accounting for how much more stuff you would have if you had not been decluttering. It is like losing weight. People say I 'only' lost 1/2 a stone all year but they forget their weight was climbing and if they hadn't started losing weight, at the end of the year they would be heavier anyway as previously they were adding half a stone a year.

You are doing better than you think. Keep going :)

If you have built castles in the air, your work should not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them

    Very good points made above.

Why not keep a list of items that you've de-cluttered so that you can see that you're making progress? It took you years to accumulate all the clutter so it will take time to get rid of it all. One drawer, one cupboard and one shelf at a time is the way to go :).

With regard to your stepson it sounds like a tricky situation. How does your DH feel about his behaviour?

Offer stepson something to clear his ears out.......when he says what, you just turn round and say "oh so you're just being rude when you can hear me speaking to you "

Sorry I hate rude people and would be so disappointed if my children didn't answer someone when they were spoken to.......in fact they would have got a smack on the back of the head xx

Thanks DIA. We're never happy are we. But you're right, I have achieved something.

Rude then. That made me laugh.:rotfl:

It would be a very long list.

He is sneaky and tends to do it when his dad's out of the room.

Ha ha. I don't even get a 'what'. Just a total blank.

I'm the same with my son. He would never get away with being so rude.

There is nothing more I would love than to ban him until he joins the human race but I have to think of my relationship with his dad too. He's a sneaky so and so and would turn it all the other way round and make me the bad guy.

    Good luck with the decluttering.
