Good question of Redo to ask. It does make sense to attack the debt. Is that what you have done now?
The warmer weather is on its way anyway. Would you be able to get the windows done by this Winter?
Mutual jealousy as I would love to be able to tackle jobs like plumbing and fixing things in my homeIf you have built castles in the air, your work should not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them

Just trying to catch up here... First of all, great to see a card bite the dust! As DIA says, could the money now go towards windows by next winter? Whatever you decide you have taken a good step forward today.
And... Would you like to come and fill those bin bags at my house please? I feel as though the tide of clutter is coming under the door and I should start putting things of value in the loft before they start to get washed away. :eek:I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

TWO cards killed.... well done PH! :j :j
Totally agree that it would be daft to keep on paying that amount of interest if you can do away with most of it, and it must have given you such a boost.
I think it's time to stop knocking yourself constantly..... sometimes we look at other peoples lifestyles and they seem to be doing so much better than we are, but we don't know for sure that everything is as hunky dory as i looks
they might be in debt themselves but hide it well :rotfl:
Anyway, take it from one who knows, it's no good looking back and lamenting about what we should have, could have done. It may as well have happened a million years ago, the ability to alter it is just as great. Whats important is that we don't look back to 2018 in five years time and lament about what we 'should have, could have' done. The opportunity is ours NOW.
I know you can do it. Having mastered things like plumbing etc  you are up to any challenge that you put your mind to.
Cheering you on. (hugs)) XI Believe.....
That it isn't always enough, to be forgiven by others.
Sometimes, you have to learn to forgive yourself.

Debt is still very much a taboo thing to discuss......not on here of course. My hubby gets jealous of his friend sometimes, they have a good income but boy do they spend it, their car payment is twice as much as my mortgage  but they are constantly refinancing stuff and that's never a good sign, they have expensive tastes and they spend well beyond their means and I keep telling hubby that's nothing to be jealous of, that once we are debt free we will be able to spend on what we like, save up to go for a trip or a redecorating spree but at least we won't be treading water in years to come xxNEXT TARGET: Halifax credit card DEC 22 £0 / £4499.12POAMAYC 2011 £6378.35 POAMAYC 2012 £5000.78POAMAYC 2013 £3480.04 POAMAYC 2014 £4085.14POAMAYC 2015 £7565.24 POAMAYC 2016 £8000.90 POAMAYC 2017 £7278.80 POAMAYC 2018 £13208.18POAMAYC 2019 £13309.28 POAMAYC 2020 £15026.050

Oh absolutely. So many folks are up to their necks in debt and I just want to be rid of it.
I think I'm more fed up with the job situation. I need to find something to get my brain going again.
I guess when we're all bet free we will have so many more options.
I'm trying to get going again today but after another sleepless night in struggling. Rocket fuel needed.:rotfl:
Edited to say

That reminds me of what Dave Ramsey says - 'people buying stuff with money they don't have to impress people they don't like'. It's so true. I was shocked when I learned that 70% of Americans live pay check to pay check, would struggle to meet an unexpected $600 bill and the average credit card balance per person is $8,000!! I always thought Americans had an amazing standard of living, turns out it's all paid for by credit or finance. Madness.
The reason I mention this hear is it was Parsniphead that got me onto Dave Ramsey and I could be more grateful for reading this diary and learning about him.
Good idea on using the window fund to shift the 'horrid' credit card balance. Bet it feels great. One step closer to being debt free.0 -
I love Dave Drspendlittle. I will go months without listening to him then become obsessed. I'm definitely in music listening mode at the moment but have been listening to dave for an hour a day.
Ive never been bothered by impressing other to be honest. I'm far too anti social for that.;) I guess I would like to impress myself can bit more.:rotfl:

I agree re Dave.
I used to fantasise about going out to America so I could do a debt free scream and answer 'better than I should be' when he asked 'how are you DIA?'
Well done on getting rid of the high APR cards :TIf you have built castles in the air, your work should not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them

Yay for Dave!! I too can spend a good hour watching his youtube videos. He keeps me on track and I think we need him over here, though some of us Brits may struggle with his strong conservative, gun totting, evangelical approach!!
Martin Lewis should up his YouTube / radio game! He's missing a trick!
