I know couples who renewed their vows after one had a life threatening illness and it was part of them living the rest of their lives appreciating what they have. I can understand reaffirming vows in that situation.

Don't really have a lot of interest in those who want it as an excuse to have a party....Just have the party and have done with it :)

Out of curiosity to anyone, if you invited guests, would guests be expected to give a gift?

Agree totally personal thing. If it was me would spend it on a nice holiday instead and get some shots taken there. I wouldn't want to change my ring but could be persuaded to accept another one!

I think it is a lovely idea. My parents renewed their vows after 50 years. It is a reaffirmation of their commitment to one another and the "do" afterwards was a celebration of their achievement. Looking forward to doing it again next year when they get to 60 years.

I see no problem with getting good family photos taken and replacing a ring. Not sure why people are making a big deal over it, if it is what you want to do, then go for it!
What goes around comes around.....I hope!
