Hi all,
Mila, I must in incredibly dense mode today; what is funny about the water? The first water; this is not a phrase in American? Two nations divided by a common language, we are.
Are you familiar with the play, "1066 and all that"? There is a scene where Christopher Columbus is on trial for crimes against the English language and answers every question either "Yup" or "Nope"?Oh I thought you were referring to a common statement we have when couples have many children....it must be something in the water.
So what does first water mean?
I don't really know anything about plays. I have always lived in small towns and the only plays I've seen are those performed in high school. I did see Cats once in Dallas,Texas. It was amazing!
Kim it's almost July and Aug is coming soon. This was always the point when I started wanting to see what they looked like so much! Baby boy may not resemble your others with having a different father. I hope that son of a gun was at least goodlooking!Overprepare, then go with the flow.

High school, well, grammar school in my case, is where I saw this play.
Gosh, Mila, one shall attempt to impart a little of the Queen's English to you, you poor colonial :rotfl:
"The first water"; the highest calibre, the best quality.
There may well be something in the water but I strongly suspect there were other causes for your children's births... lousy TV reception, perhaps? :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Please take this in the spirit in which it is intended. I think you're great and it is wonderful that an American, from the Deep South wants to talk to a bunch of limeys and not down to us. The only other yanks with whom I have ever corresponded I have found somewhat insular and inflexible in their attitudes. At the risk of sounding a little harsh, they seem to equate being American with being superior and always right. Guess I's been jawin' with the wrong ones... think they were yankees.0 -
It will help me a lot on this site if you can translate for me. :T ::D
I'm not actually from the Deep South, although my family roots are spread across it from Maryland to Texas. I'm from New Mexico which is the Southwest. My parents came here from Texas in 1939.
I see a few Australians on MSE but I haven't run into any other Americans. I do love the interaction with so many wonderful people. (Except I did venture I into a discussion group on American lack of gun control and that got heated.)
Overprepare, then go with the flow.

Firstly, hi Kim+8 and all (all o' y'all) and I hope no-one minds our digressing thus?
Well now, that works both ways, Mila, honey (just send me a virtual slap):D I should warn you now that I am a True Blood fan (other vampire shows are available) not least because of the accent. I don't know why but there is something about a southern accent, warmth, richness, I dunno.
I apologise if I have committed a faux pas in confusing the Deep South with the SW. Where does one stop and the other start? I am genuinely intrigued. (In case anyone needs it, faux pas ( franglais French but in common use in English: mistake, social gaffe, blunder; literal meaning "should not"))
I watched a documentary once on this kind of thing presented by an American comedian called Rich something or other. The only bit I remember was there's the South, the Deep South and the Bible Belt; the last two looked exactly the same to me except that Florida seemed to be exempt.
Sorry to waffle, in the inedible sense.0 -
 Hi Kim and crew including the little feller.
The Deep South is Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgis, South Carolina, Northern Floridia. They were historically dependent on the plantation system of slaves working their cotton fields. They were first to cede from the Union.
They plus the Upper South are what made up the Confererate states.
Texas is not really considered Deep South. It still thinks of itself as a Republic and has mannerisms and a flavor all its own.
New Mexico, Arizona, southern part of California, Colorado, Utah and Nevada comprise the Southwest and all were originally territories of Mexico. When you see cowboy westerns at the movies, this is us.
New Mexico has many Native American tribes, families descended from the original Spanish settlers and a big Hispanic population which are mostly Mexican American. We have more Hispanics than Anglos.
Southern Florida has a huge retirement population from the upper East Coast, so they no longer really count in the Bible Belt. The joke is >>Ask a hunderd people if they were born in Florida and they are all from somewhere else. It's hard to find an actual Florida native.
I lived in Mobile Alabama for a year in my late twenties. You can't get any more Deep South than that. I just loved living there.Overprepare, then go with the flow.

Hi ya'll
I was busy getting that damn gator off my porch':rotfl: ( said in worst southern accent known to mankind).
Really though I've been so poorly the last 2 days, I picked up a raging cold from the kids, I've been feverish and runny nose, sore throat and general pounding head!
I don't get ill very often but when I do it's horrendous.
Just sorting the kids bedrooms too for bunk beds- my 2nd youngest is turning 3 next month and I need space for the baby so it's time for her to go in a big girls bed!! I'm super excited for her :-)
Got the bunk beds super cheap from eBay too, just £89, probably won't last forever but they will do for now until we finally get to our forever house :-)Just a single mum, working full time, bit of a nutcase, but mostly sensible, wanting to be Mortgage free by 2035 or less!0 -

My others are carbon copies of their dad, blonde hair, blue eyes, with a hint of red from me and my freckles!
Baby's dad is also a red head so it's pretty much a given that he will have red hair!Just a single mum, working full time, bit of a nutcase, but mostly sensible, wanting to be Mortgage free by 2035 or less!0 -
Dimples!!! Excellent!
I have never head the term butt chin so I looked it up and there are some really good looking people with this chin. He will be beautiful!
I do hope you are on the mend. It's difficult to be ill. Plus being preggers and sole caretaker of you little ones makes it extra difficult. Wishing you a fast recovery and well children.
p.s. Love your southern accent! :T:rotfl:Overprepare, then go with the flow.

Awwwwww, you guys!
Kim, I really hope you feel much better very soon. You are quite possibly the strongest person I "know". If/when you are fed up with being always the strong one, we are here. If I lived another hundred lifetimes, I still could not imagine being able to do one tenth of what you do. You have my utmost respect.
I am so pleased you do not mind us going off topic. I am still, to an extent, getting to grips with what is and is not acceptable on this forum, being (by now) a demi-vierge when it comes to posting. Guess that excuse will not wash for much longer. I will not call this social media, I believe it is better than Twinterpest/MyTwitFace, personally.
Thank you for the information, Mila. I had it completely wrong (y'know, in m' brain) I thought the Deep South and, indeed, the South were much bigger. Is, for instance, Kentucky not classed as "South"? They all (sorry for this) tok lahk thayut in "Justified".
Was your discussion about "lack of gun control" on this forum? If so, I would like to read it. The biggest... discussion, I had with my occasional correspondent was about racism. I would welcome the chance to discuss the issues he raised with an American but think this is not the place, certainly not unless Kim gives permission.
Thank you all for such inspirational, stimulating conversation. No Bovine Secretions, I really mean that, y'all.
Kim, babe, thinking of you.0
