Kentucky is Upper South as are Arkansas, Tennessee, Virginia, and North Carolina.
Kentucky and 50 counties in western Virginia remained in the Union. During the Civial war those counties formed a new state>>>West Virginia.

Today, West Virginia is culturely more Southern but I don't know how they view themselves. I think most Americans think of Kentucky (and Kentucky itself) as being Southern so that's why I included it in Upper South.

As to racism, my son dated and lived with a woman that is Africian American. They are no longer together but she is considered family. She and her husband spend holidays with us and I talk to her all the time. My XSIL is Hispanic. If you'd like to discuss racism in America we could private message and give Kim a break. :D I love that you have so many questions and are interested in our nation. I feel the same way about the UK. I ask questions all the time and the lovely people on this Board graciously and patiently help me understand. (Racism in America is a fascinating subject)

Thank you, Kim, for indulging this discussion on your thread and for being so wonderful. Sleep well!

Hey guys, the off topic chat is no Probs here, I'm not really bothered what we talk about, I've never been a rule follower anyways :-)
    I'm still feeling ill! :-(
Sore throat is gone but general heavy/ grogginess is still there and I'm so gripey and mucusey. belly ache and stroooooong braxton hocks at night- restless legs.
    I'm seriously short tempered too!
Saw the ex today and one look from him had me on the verge of punching him in the groin and saying what I thought!
I didn't though, I smiled sweetly and ushered my boys onto the soccer pitch.
I am soooo tired and tearful tonight.
I've ordered my boys school uniform and I'm going to have a rummage in the pre loved sale tomorrow for more uniform bits! I love a bargain!
Plus we've got opticians to collect glasses and I have dentist tomorrow afternoon :-( I hate the dentist!
    NSD today and yesterday! Whoop

Kim, you must be a saint. I would need to be physically restrained in your situation. As it is, if you let me off the leash around him, I would bite his ankles for you... I'm not really pervy, I was being metaphorical but, at least, on topic for a change! ;)

I am so sorry you are still feeling grotty. I seriously hope you feel better soon. Are you sure it's a cold/flu? Y'all take care, now.

    Laters!

I wrote a lovely long reply yesterday and it's vanished:cool:
Feeling much better, I'm still a bundle of snot but made a curry yesterday and added loads of extra chilli to mine and it's cleared the grogginess.
It's dd birthday today so I've been up since silly o clock building Lego friends :p:p
Have my mum, sister and sisters boyfriend visiting today so that will be nice, I'm making some slow cooker turkey with veg and roasted pots- yummy!!
I love having family visiting, it makes me feel so blessed and happy.
I feel so much happier today, I've managed to get most of the kids school uniforms for September and for my ds I got loads from their second hand rail which has saved me loads of money, I paid £6 for 2 logo jumpers that looked new and a logo PE top! Bargain! The rest I've managed to get from m and s in their sale and on their 20% off day- my 8 year old boy is so skinny that the m and s skinny leg trousers are the only ones that fit him right.
The kids are all happily playing and I'm just going to get a pile of ironing done and prepare lunch.
I hope everyone is having a lovely weekend :D
