Firstly thanks to everyone ( especially my smod and mila) for hanging In here while I have been pulling my head out of my !!!!!. I had a wobbly few week what with having the baby, losing my house and my job and now the bailiff. Life have given me lemons so I need to make lemonade and move on!
Eldest 4 are back at school and the middle 3 are at school and pre school from Monday- the littl'es are only going to preschool for a few sessions to get their free hours and I'm going to use that time job searching and getting my cv updated etc to put out the feeler for Christmas temp jobs.
Tomorrow I'm going to call back the money advice service that I was using and get on with the DRO/ bankruptcy.
I just need to get the £700 odd together to petition it now, I'm sure I can manage it if I try.
I have some piles of clothing and bits to sell to get some money together and I'm just going to throw all our spare cash at it till its done.Just a single mum, working full time, bit of a nutcase, but mostly sensible, wanting to be Mortgage free by 2035 or less!0 -
I know you really tried to avoid doing this but honestly this is now the best option. I thought you received some wonderful advice from lovely people after you wrote about the bailiff scare. What a nasty job that guy has, but it sounds like he has a personality that relishes doing what he's doing. Just really creepy!
Sending hugs and support Kim!!Overprepare, then go with the flow.

Kim really hope you manage to get yourself sorted. Onwards and upwards hun! Just wanted to say make sure you go through stepchange or another free debt charity. Lots of predator companies out there who will want more money from you. Are you on the council housing list? You need to make sure you have a suitable guarantor if you are looking to privately rent if you going to go the bankruptcy/dro route. Good luck£2 Savers Club for 2022 #120

You are one brave lady, Kim and, some way or another, you will get through this. I think the guy from National Debtline's details are already on your other thread, maybe you could PM him for more info?
Hang in there. Mila, I and all your other mates on here will be around whenever you need us... except for the time difference bit, but between us, we offer almost a 24 hour service.0 -
I had a watch of Dave Ramsey Financial Peace University last night and I am going to start using the envelope system again to budget and get by, It seemed to work so well for me before that I have no Idea why I stopped using it.
I am going to call money advice in a bit and finish my application for insolvency, I think after everything these last few weeks/ month it will be a huge relief to have that huge burden lifted.
I think I've let this go on far long enough.
DRAW A LINE IN THE SAND AND SAY NO MORE.
I have health, my beautiful kids and a roof over my head at the moment, It could be worse and I have to stay positive or I may just go insane.
I think if I sell all the outgrown kids clothes and bits that they don't need anymore and budget super super tight it will take me 3-4 weeks to get the bankruptcy fee together.
Tonight I'm making chicken chilli as we have no mince but have some chicken in the freezer and tomorrow I get paid so will meal plan for the next week.
Now I have the car I can go to lidl/aldi and hopefully save myself a packet of cash.
I have a £100 max limit for food so I have to make this work, That's £14 odd for 1 adult and 7 kids to eat per day or roughly £4.50 per meal which is totally do-able.
Strictly packed lunches for myself and the kids and I'm going to pack a lunch in the mornings for the babies too and take it out wherever we go so I'm not tempted to grab something while we are out.
I have around £30 of points on my boots card so I am gonna go there on Friday and stock up on toiletries and bits for the kids.
The babies are totally in cloth nappies now which is saving me a small fortune.
Once they are all back at school I will have time to do some comping and apply for freebies :-)
health visitor is coming in a bit to weigh wee man. he seems huge to me already, hes really filling out and is such a happy and contented baby, I am so very blessed. with all of them I am very blessed.Just a single mum, working full time, bit of a nutcase, but mostly sensible, wanting to be Mortgage free by 2035 or less!0 -
Please take financial advice from one of the free organisations before you do anything else, Kim. I do not know what the implications are for trying to find somewhere else to live once you have been declared bankrupt/insolvent/whatever. It may be to your advantage in getting the council to help you or it may not; you need to talk to someone who knows this stuff, imho.
I believe there are several freebies for new mums on this board somewhere, maybe under coupons? I found them once by accident but they are here somewhere.
Please let us know how you get on when you get a chance. Ta.
