Has your job finished as from now or will finish in March? If the job still exists for the next few months, it's just that you are on maternity, I am just wondering if it would be financially better for you if you were to return from maternity sooner until the job actually goes? If this is a possibility, i don't know if this would be more helpful (or not) with the housing situation?
  • Hey guys,
Been in hospital over the weekend :(
I had a terrible infection from a tiny piece of retained placenta.
Had antibiotics and painkillers X now feeling sooooooo much better.
Darling boy is becoming a right fat chops! He loves his skin to skin and mummy milk so much and it a bit greedy so is really filling out.
My job is here till March and if I go back from mat leave I won't be any better off.
M2m I believe I will be entitled to free school meals in March if I am without work it I don't plan to be. I want to find a job by then- something/ anything to stop me having to be jobless.
Going self employed is an option, if I can do something equating to 16 hours per week then I won't lose my working tax credits

So glad you are on the mend, Kim and it is great to see you back. Ezra sounds as if he is doing exceptionally well, but why would he not? He has you as his mama.

    Any news gratefully received.

    Hey guys,
kids finally all asleep- my youngest DD has been having night terrors and is so restless.
sooo, viewed a few houses but none of them have been right, either the Landlords wont accept a housing benefit top up or they want me to have a guarantor which I don't have.
more homes seem to be coming onto right move every day so ill just keep looking.
I did my weekly shopping in Aldi yesterday and wow- did I save some money!!! what would have cost me £150 in the big 4 came to just £89 in aldi and TBH a bit of what I bought will last into next week and the week after easily.
I need to seek out a car insurance renewal this week as that's due next month and I also need to sort out some life insurance as I don't have any and if anything were to happen to me then the kids need a roof over their heads and a pot of money to get by with whoever is looking after them (my mum probably).
The CMS are calling me back tomorrow as they have been unable to get my ex to agree to pay child maintenance for Ezra, I don't think he will ever 'agree' to pay it to be honest and they will most likely need to go down the enforcement route. I have opened a second basic bank account in Barclays for the child maintenance to go into to save it for shoes/clothing/school trips etc. the maintenance from both the fathers will go in to here hopefully and just stay there until I need something for the kiddos.
All the kids are settling really well at school and preschool and I love being back in a routine and getting up and out the house everyday.
I let the kids have school dinners this week just to see what they think- well it hasn't gone down too well TBH, they have all (except the secondary school daughter) come home and said school meals are horrible. They are pretty healthy kids and do prefer a hearty meal as apposed to chips and fish fingers etc and they are not too keen on having jacket potato every single day so its back to packed lunches and I will leave their dinner money on their tab for emergencies when they may need a school meal at short notice etc.
A friend of mine very kindly gave me a pile of girls clothes last week and as she is expecting I have passed my baby bits to her that ezra has already outgrown.
We are setting up a little facebook page where we can exchange baby clothes and items to help each other out, reduce waste and save all of us some money.
better get on to bed anyhow as I'm up early for school run and nursery runtomorrow.
    much love

  • You sound more positive and more like yourself which is wonderful.

Yucky about the hospital and boo to deadbeat dads!!

    Prayers for the right house.

I think the life insurance policy is a fantastic idea.
Overprepare, then go with the flow.
