Well, this last week has been pretty rubbish.
Ezra is doing fantasticly as are the other kids but life is not going as planned.
The landlady is certain that she is ending my tenancy in November so I will need to move house- no doubt about it.
My job contract will not be there when I finish mat leave in march, sadly the department I work for has lost all of its funding (civil service) so I will not have a job to go back to. There are no other positions available and they are laying off around 10% of staff so there is no chance I can even move departments.
I'm not entitled to mat pay anyway as I haven't worked there long enough so have been living off tax credits and child benefit, but cant do that indefinitely.
I am beyond gutted at the prospect of being job less and homeless with 8 children but I guess the only way from here is up??
Time to draw a line in the sand and change our lives.
It sucks and its going to be a very very tough year but I AM going to get through it for the better.
One bonus is that I now have a car!!! its a heap and is looks a mess but is solid, has 7 seats and will get us on the school run and about without relying on busses.
tonight Ill post up a new SOA and go from there, I've enquired about benefits and it seems ill be subjected to the cap so ill have £500 per week to work with, I CAN do this!!!!!
will come back and post more later. :-)Just a single mum, working full time, bit of a nutcase, but mostly sensible, wanting to be Mortgage free by 2035 or less!0 -
Kim - Are you not entitled to maternity allowance? I had to claim this when I had my youngest. There used to be a short window to claim though if you were applying after the baby was born which you may have missed. Have a look
https://www.gov.uk/maternity-allowance/overview
In the days when I read baby mags (long time ago, youngest is 13!) they used to say if you didn't qualify for SMP or MA you could claim something else. I can't remember what is was officially called at the time, maybe Incapacity benefit, which I think has now stopped/changed but perhaps you need a benefit check to see what you are eligible for.
Sorry about the job and house. Double whammy for you. Fingers crossed it all starts changing for the better soon.0 -
Sorry everything seems to be going wrong, but it's just a bump in the road. I'm sure you will keep up the good work and get everything sorted out.
Have you looked into all benefits you are entitled to and would you get redundancy pay from work?
Congrats on car, it doesn't matter what it looks like as long as it's safe and gets you where u need to go, that's all that matters.
Good luck in the house search, I'm sure you will find something brilliant
As the saying goes, keep calm and carry on xxxPAD Maker0 -
Totes, mandz1 and Kim, please remember we are here for you, especially me and Mila... and I don't care like what if that's right grammar or not, innit?
No doubt she'll be along later to correct it for me!

Sorry to read about the house and job. Worth looking into Maternity allowance to see if you would be eligible. Good news about the car...what type is it? Some 7 sweaters can easily be made into an 8 seater by swopping 2 seats for a 3 seater bench seat. Fab name for your little one.paydbx2025 #26 £890/£5000 . Mortgage start £148k June 23 - now £138k.

Glad to hear from you Kim. Sterling baby name! :happyhear. Having a car will make such a difference to you all. That is just great news.
Is the sh*t paying child support yet?
Supporting you all the way through it Kim!! Just apply for everything you might be entitled to and get help from every agency you can. It may be tough for a while but Kim, you are an incredibly capable bright woman who can fight her way through these rotten obstacles. I really do believe that.
Smod, you rascal you!Overprepare, then go with the flow.
