Just checked my credit rating through Noddle and have a high rating, no problems showing but can't see a TSB check in search history though.

Don't think Noddle is very comprehensive but it is free...

Guess I will just have to try again in 30 days, just p**s me off when there should be no reason to refuse me.

I wonder if applying in my local branch would give me a better chance of acceptance, or do they just do the same online like I have?

My personal experience with major bank CC, I am more likely to get accepted if I apply as a new customer rather than applying through loggin to my account first.

I think the main reason is that it is not easy (e.g it takes time to them to scrutinize your account with them) if you do not mention it in the first instance.

I wonder what about anyone else experience ?. Are you more likely to get accepted with login through your existing account or apply as a new customer ??

Went in store yesterday, was told I'd need an appointment, and there's none available yesterday in the branch next to my work, or the three others that are in close proximity. Was also told that to open the card (regardless of the fact that I'm already a TSB customer), I'd need:
    * ID (I understand this)
    * Proof of address - but this can't be same as the ID!

So my driving license which I normally use can't be used for both, and they told me they don't accept print outs of statements either (!!!!!! is the point of forcing us to use Paper-free statements, if you then wont use the statements? - that said, I much prefer online statements than those posted).

So decided to just apply online... filled in all the way till the last bit, and it asks me if I want to sign up for online banking (I'm thinking !!!!!!... I logged in before I did the application, why is it asking me to Sign UP!). So I hesitantly cancelled thinking that I'll just have to go in store.

A couple hours later, I received an email and text telling me my credit card application has been approved... no need for proof or anything (thankfully). Will see if it's attached to my account when it arrives (hopefully it is) otherwise I'll need to phone them or go in to get them linked - that said the card's direct debit should be going out of my TSB account, so hopefully that's why they approved it instantly, and why they'll have the common sense to link my credit card and account together.

I don't know whether that ever works - has anyone tried it?

It worked for me with my Halifax Clarity card a few year ago.
In the meanwhile, about two year ago I applied one BOS vantage account, got declined. I appealed not successful.

But recently I applied again with BOS, I got approved for three BOS vantage accounts while I have more than £10000 credit card balance . I think, if you have a good credit history, it is sometimes also down to people who decide your application.

Not relevant now, though, it looks like most of the TSB rejects are down to software glitches (see post 45).

My advice to anyone who is about to apply is to take a screenshot of every page and, if rejected, get them to check the entries they have on their system.
  • Just tried to open account but got the message saying there was a problem and to ring an 0845 number. When I rang the 0845 number was then told to ring an 0345 number - what? When I got through after some time I was told they were having problems. When I asked what was the timescale ie. 24 hrs or 3 weeks, was just told to try again tomorrow. Very hit or miss.

FCA regulations have banned the use of 084, 087 and 09 numbers by financial services.

Most former users of 0845 numbers have changed to the exactly matching 0345 numbers. Some have, however, failed to update all of their paperwork and marketing messages.

It is good that you heard a message telling you to call the new, cheaper, number. Had the message not been in place, you would have spent up to 52p per minute more than you should have.

Just received my 20 month 0% card. Surprised to find it doesn't have contactless functionality. Oh well, it works with Apple Pay so that's fine.

No contactless symbol on mine either, but does it actually mean it isn't contactless?

How do you get a contactless card if it isn't, especially as they seem keen to promote contactless transactions with their debit card giving cashback on contactless transactions only?

Recently got my card and have had my first statement. No sign of any cashback. Does that get added on later? Also I am sure I asked for a DD payment with full amount being paid. But no sign of that either and when I go on the TSB web site and payment options it said you should click on the setting up DD button- What button? Bit glitchy so far!

Cashback is accrued calendar monthly (and not statement period) and paid by 15th of the following month. Weird system.
