Just filled out the application form online. When it got to setting up the DD page there was a odd glitch where alongside the DD guarantee information there was a lot of text running down the screen rather than across it! Ending with a yes or no box! I first ticked yes and it highlighted an area where you could list the balance you wanted to transfer. So I them clicked no and them got " We've encountered an error" message. So it looks like I will need the form all over again! And perhaps have to wait 30 days!! GRRR!0

Maybe you did what I did and put your ANNUAL outgoings figure in the field where they ask for your MONTHLY outgoings!
I've written to the address given on the reject notice and asked them to reconsider using the correct monthly figure.
Awaiting outcome.
Outcome:
Letter with provisional agreement for card and credit limit from the Lending Decisions Dept.
I have to take the letter & ID to a branch to complete the application.0 -

I had exactly the same letter yesterday asking to go to branch with ID to complete application as long as there are no adverse changes in my circumstances within the next 30 days.0 -
It's looking as though their web form is filled with glitches. Having checked my credit records, I eventually rang TSB to ask why I had been refused and it became obvious that things were seriously wrong.
The main problem was that there was a figure in the 'Monthly cost of childcare etc' box, which should have been zero but showed as a fifth of my annual income! And there was a zero in the box for tax, which I would have completed; it wouldn't have been a high figure, but I would have made an entry.
The guy was very helpful but said he couldn't do anything as they couldn't deal with applications by phone, though I might be able to get it sorted at a branch before the 30 days are up.
It certainly isn't satisfactory.0 -
Has anyone who was declined suddenly received a "specially selected" to apply letter from Vanquis.
I ask because I applied to TSB and was declined (I suspect due to not detailing expenditure properly as per this thread) and today received one. I've not applied for other cards so it seems likely TSB have passed my details on to Vanquis after rejecting my application. I am certain I didn't give consent for my details being used for marketing purposes (I'm very careful of this)! I'm so annoyed at this and just wanted to see if others have had this before making a complaint.0 -

We went into a branch today as requested in my letter to complete the application.
The staff scratch their heads a bit to start with, then rang the TSB department handling the credit card applications, the nice lady was told she had to apply as a new application while they stayed on the phone to approve it.!
She asked isn't there an easier quicker way as it takes well over half an hour as they have to read every bit of the T&Cs, summary etc at each stage, but was told no other way.
We were in the branch for almost an hour...and they still couldn't add my wife as a second card holder, can only do that after I receive my card...
Apparently they are still working to get their own IT system, meanwhile they have to use the system that was written by LLoyds until then.
Checked online when got home and it is all set up, just have to wait for credit card & PIN now.0 -

I doubt they would pass any details on to another bank for marketing purposes at all, doesn't say they can and will either in their data privacy statement on the web.
To be honest wouldn't read much into these letters as I've been receiving them for years from vanquis and others (barclays, nationwide etc) and never had dealings with two of them. None of these have been tied in time wise to an other applications for credit (declined or refused).
More likely that they got your details via the open electoral registration.
ps i too recently had a vanquis letter, but this was received a few weeks before i applied for the tsb credit card.MFW#105 - 2015 Overpaid £8095 / 2016 Overpaid £6983.24 / 2017 Overpaid £3583.12 / 2018 Overpaid £2583.12 / 2019 Overpaid £2583.12 / 2020 Overpaid £2583.12/ 2021 overpaid £1506.82 /2022 Overpaid £2975.28 / 2023 Overpaid £2677.30 / 2024 Overpaid £2173.61 Total OP since mortgage started in 2015 = £37,286.86 2025 MFW target £1700, payments to date at April 2025 - £1712.07..0 -
Thanks MoleRat! Very nervous to ask for more credit (I don't use the limit I have to be honest, but might be worth stoozing) but given those stats I thought I'd give it another go and got another third of the limit added.
I have good credit but not on the housing ladder (renting in London) so every little helps.
Still have a hell of a way to go before I have x1.5 my salary though!0
