TSB now with 1% cashback

If you spend £500 on it, that's only £5 per month surely?
The Halifax reward account, clarity card each give £5 per month - the first you just have to pass through 750, plus 2 direct debits a month, the second only £300 spending.
TSB classic gives you 5% on contactless spending up to £100 also anyway.
Don't you eventually run out of energy keeping them all going?
Why would you run out of energy?
These sums are bonuses after all, you shouldn't be spending money you don't have to, but for normal spending why not get a free £20 a month on £900 spend, I like free money personally but we're all different.
Though the OP does seem to be taking oarticualr offence at this refusal, sometimes people just don't want to do business with you and you simply have to accept that.0 -
I'm in same situation - good credit rating, low utilisation of credit, asked for low limit as intended as second card to Amex. All my spend goes on cards so will have good records of credit history. Entered Santander details as only use TSB for interest and contactless cashback.
Oh well, just need to wait 30 days and see what happens then0 -

I applied online for the card via our TSB current account and it opened a new window, filled in all details and was then refused.
I have never had any bank or credit card application turned down before40 -
I can only think I must have too many current accounts and credit cards for their liking. Either that or they didn't like the way I was using their Classic plus accounts (ie profitably). I may try again after 30 days.
I'm similar to you, I've had their classic plus accounts from the days when you could had 2 sole accounts and just getting the interest, reg saver and only spending on accounts is contactless, along with 5 other credit cards and a dozen current accounts and got a £12,000 limit:eek:
Might be worth bunging in an appeal?0 -
Thanks for that LuSiVe, so must be something else they don't like in my application.
I gave a fairly high income, no mortgage, low essential living costs and only requested 2k credit as would be a second card to our Amex card.
Not sure what else I should check as never had anything refused before.
Maybe you did what I did and put your ANNUAL outgoings figure in the field where they ask for your MONTHLY outgoings!
I've written to the address given on the reject notice and asked them to reconsider using the correct monthly figure.
Awaiting outcome.0 -

Gosh, you are right just checked my application (I always do a screen save for each part of the application for my records) and yes I had thought it was annual outgoings just like they asked for annual income.
I will try and reapply after the 30 days I guess.
Thanks Lardycake0 -
I don't know whether that ever works - has anyone tried it?
It worked for me with the Halifax Clarity (I got a letter with a provisional offer and stating that I had to reapply over the phone rather than online), however I cannot say for TSB. All an appeal does is getting a human to check your application rather than an algorithm.
Good luck!0 -

Decided to send a reconsider letter with copies of new revised application showing correct figures, will have to wait and see....0
