Agree MOT it for another year and people will come ringing.

Yep. The natural assumption when one sees a car for sale with on,y a month or two MOT is that the seller knows there's something wrong which will be costly to fix.

Usual seller excuse is 'don't have time' or 'it's SORN' or 'not insured'... None of which are good enough reasons for me - seller has time to advertise and take the money, could take it to an MOT without tax, and could arrange a day's insurance...

£700 for an A class with about 7 weeks mot... Your 'aving a laugh.
These things can be bought for barely any more than a 1.8 MONDEO LX without any mot... Because with such a small mot left it's as good as no mot.

I see this 'it's still motd mentality a lot' buying cars..

"If you want rid mate we'll give you X with effectively no mot"
"No it has an mot on it"

    Worthless.

My favourite is "No MoT, but will pass easily." Yeah, and I'm Robert de Niro.

The only real timewaster I have had was when I was selling a bike on eBay. Nice bike (Honda 900 Hornet) in good nick, low miles, should sell easily. Local guy phones me, wants to see it next day. I explain I work nights, but would be willing to show it to him late one afternoon. No, he's only free at lunch time, but he really wants the bike and would pay cash. All very friendly, so we agree a time (1 pm, I think). I get in from work, grab 2-3 hours' sleep, then get up, dress, get the bike out, dust it off to make it look immaculate, and ... wait. And wait. He arrives about 3 pm (I keep my cool) and he has a good look at the bike. He likes it, and if we can come to a deal I think it will be worth the hassle. He says, "Well, I want it. I'd better see about getting mine advertised, then."
"So you're not in a position to buy it today?"
"No, mate, wife won't let me have more than one at a time, ha ha."
"But the auction ends this weekend."
"Well, mate, I was hoping if we agreed a price you could withdraw it and hang onto it for me ..."
    "Er, no."

He didn't stay on the premises long. The bike sold for a decent price four days later.
If someone is nice to you but rude to the waiter, they are not a nice person.

the vauxhall man hasnt any money, simple, so just forget him, consider a full mot, get some more pics on especially rear, and loose the picture which shows the drivers seat, or clean it . ;)

    I'm with this guy ^^^^.

Your car's too dear, that's why it's not sold.

This is the age of car I go for; I do tend to find some sellers over estimate the value of their car for a number of reasons, (eg "low mileage").

End of the day it's 15 year old.

With respect it's probably a good car, probably do someone a real good turn; but it's nowhere near £700.

    Good luck with it. :)
  • If people are looking to spend £700 on a car. Its because they either cant, or dont want to spend lots of money on their motoring.

They will not want the risk of a big bill in the near future.

Add an MOT of take 50% off the price.

    +1

If it doesnt have a years ticket its not going to sell at this price.

It's a fair price imho with the full service history just not attractive with a short MoT and expensive to insure for most people wanting a smallish car.
