  • Balance transfer has gone through. I aim to pay off the balance on the first card by january. Its about £500, quite a small amount and doable.

Cooking lunch for next 2 days so should be 3x nsd's coming up.

As part of the application they asked me what other debt I held. That was quite a sobering conversation. I tell myself and I tell the internet but to tell a real life person was a bit uncomfortable. I think it was good for me tho. The next 6 months feel quite crucial. Do not want to mess up further.

    I did spend today
    3 dresses for work £51
Plus toiletries and cleaning supplies £10
    Both much needed.
Going to keep an eye on the accounts this week then once bills are paid stop looking.

Another letter in the post offering me more loans from the bank or "top up loan". This is basically the worst thing in my life so as soon as I can get rid its going.

I now have 3 big (mbna x2 + sainsbury £8,000 + £3010) and 3 small - loan, halifax and hsbc cc. All under £2,00. Amounts being finalised. Will have a look tommorow when payday finally arrives.
2017- 5 credit cards plus loan
Overdraft And 1 credit card paid off.

  • I knew I had spent more money. Topped up phone, in budget. But then bought a 2017 pocket diary to keep track of all the plans for next year. Felt like a positive step. Early night tonight. Then pay day tomorrow. Need to keep on track.

  • Hey lovely,

    You're doing great.

Those essential spends are going to crop up every now & then. They are unavoidable so wouldn't worry about it.

Glad to hear you have a wee pocket diary, I have been using my filofax which I bought years ago & never used (my bad) seems to be helping writing everything down.

  • So glad you are back Dolly.and enjoying all your plans. I can not wait for october.

Today should have been better but I am a bit anemic which is an expensive thing to fix. I need to eat more iron and less alcohol. The alcohol is easy but the iron is harder. Bought 2 stakes, 1 for tonight, one for next week, totally messing up food plan and budget, will need to be leaner for rest of month. Its hard because the anemia is caused by not eating enough meat which is what I've been cutting out because it's expensive! A bit catch 22 but will write this up as unavoidable cost. The other bits will get eaten.
This is not how i wanted payday to be but it is health so cant really be ignored

    Spends today
    £8 on sinus tablets
£22 marks and spencer steak, onions, cheese, ham, rolls, bananas, chocolate pudding, yorkshire puddings.

Also £40 in my ramble/emergency fund.
Going to live in the cupboard behind the oats. This will be good for me. A brand new experience.
I can not and will not open a 6th credit card. The next action will be a closing down of each one. But need some better days than this one to see that happening.

  • Aw thanks PSL.

Health is the most important thing, you need to take care of yourself. If you need to spend a wee bit more to do so then that will just have to happen my sweet.

Well done on putting the £40 in your ramblefund.

I stashed away 10.00 in my savings book, if it survives at the end of the month I will pay that into my savings account, hopefully will be able to add to that amount.

You will get there, we need to break this journey down into small manageable chunks so that it is acheivable. If we look at the whole amount to be paid it seems like it is impossible or it will take so long that we will want to give up.

Setting small goals & ticking them off really helps.

Once you have cancelled that first CC you will feel fab!

Hi hun don't know if it would help at all but Tesco do a pot of multivitamins with iron. They are 70p for 30 so a month's worth) maybe worth looking at even if only to give your iron levels a little boost. Am sure the other supermarkets or Boots will do something similar too. (Edit seems Asda do a pot of 90 multivitamins with iron for £1)
    £2 Savers Club for 2022 #12
  • Aww thank you both. I do actually have those vitamins from the last time this happened languishing in the cupboard, will start taking them and stock up as well. Just need to be sensible and sort it out. Feeling a lot more with it tonight.
Its now 6 months to pay off the loan. I know its 6 months away but its so exciting every time I make a payment its one step closer. Its now £1838.
So need to stay out of overdraft and minimise credit card spending until it is ready to be chopped which is likely to be 2017.
Im not sure how this month will go, I am hoping it will be easier than september. although in september I bought a lot of essentials so should be less spending on essential house/toiletries this month. But I do need shower gel and a shop at iceland for all the cheap frozen things, but not this week!
Paying loan and council tax tommorow.

  • 1838! That is amazing! Those 6 payments will go buy in a flash & then you will be loan free, I can't wait to celebrate this with you.

Take it a day at a time.

  • Thanks Dolly. I cant wait!

Paid council tax today. Paid loan and put money together for parents. No payments tommorow, nsd today and should be one tommorow (ex christmas cost) I feel like I have recovered massively and I am back on track plus I took the vitamin and plan to keep in handbag to take each lunch time.

Actually today was a rare good day. Got the bake off on and study notes on sofa to continue the goodness.

If they were all like this it would be loads easier.

Hope everyone's journeys are going well. xxx

You probably already know this, but there's iron and vitamin c in green leafy veg and vitamin c helps with iron absorption.
It's not for everyone, but if you don't mind eating liver, that with veg such as kale will help with the anaemia and work out cheaper.

I'm watching bake off, but it's reminding me my oven is still broken.
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.
