Thank you Speky it did. He normally gets reports that say really good BUT... this time there was no buts. He is starting junior school this september so I am very pleased he has ironed out his kinks finally (mainly attitude based, thinking he knows best etc)" Your vibe attracts your tribe":D

So pleased Calling. Such a worry having pregnancy health issues for either mum or babe. Have a lovely time. Scrumpy takes me back. When I was a kid growing up down that way we would visit cider farms with my family. The farmers were rather generous with their samples as I recall seeing

thrifty I once went to do a primary school lesson for year 3 (not sure what s1 is?) and I took loads of organs in. They were absolutely fascinated. We get lungs, heart, kidney and eyes from the butcher. I also take in some steak/meat to show them muscles.LBM = 07/09/13 Debt = £13339 (100% cleared)

Thank you for the well wishes. Doc arranged for me to have blood test and xrays of my hands taken... today! We are very blessed to have the nhs - and I am very blessed with the dr I have. He isn't so sure it is reactive arthritis, was calling it polyarthralgia. (Just as I'd got my head around the google info on the former!) Hopefully all the tests will either show something, or be negative and I'll be recovering anyway.
Dd has had a nasty side of face/cheekbone bump with another child and it is looking like a good shiner. Poor thing. We are not happy with how the office dealt with the situation - we discovered an answerphone message on the house phone at 5.30pm, timed at 1.20pm, telling us about it and asking us to pop in and see dd, as she was wanting to come home. No attempt to contact us on our mobiles. Even though we were some distance away at the hospital for me at that time, dh would have returned for her and I'd have managed on the buses. So dd spent the afternoon hoping we would appear for her. I have already drafted a letter for dh to take in tomorrow and give to the head, but have asked him to possibly tone it down a little...
And poor dh, running around after us girlies all the time. He does not have time to work!NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -

Thrifty and Bob I sympathise with your lack of baby sitters. My mother also rarely babysat - between 2 and 4 times a year (sometimes on the spur of the moment) although she did take them out for a couple of hours on a Sunday afternoon. Our first year with DS1, we went to her house on Boxing Day. After a late feed he went to sleep and she suggested we go to the pub for a drink. We were in there for 5 minutes before my brother walked in. He and OH talked about computers (their work) until last orders. I sat drinking lemonade.
Apple glad the doctor is supportive and you are being pro-active. I think the school's response was unacceptable.
I have re-read the rules and have done a mid month review of where I am up to.
I will start work on using the freezer contents when Mr and Mrs Builder finish (tomorrow or Friday). Kitchen is currently semi dismantled - one row of units/ appliances pulled out from the wall and contents of cupboards and drawers in bags. Must confess to having had a chippy tea - I only found the fork (by feel) because I had used separate bags for each drawer.
Doing badly on NSDs, mainly due to the ongoing demands of my paint the house schedule. The fridge being out of commission doesn't help (new one due Friday between 7 am and 8 pm but think last time I got an e-mail on the day which narrowed the time frame considerably). I am buying a lot of fizzy water (17p for 2 l) and diet decaff coke (53p). Not sure if that is the weather or the 'works'. I am still refilling bottles from the tap and having a lot of that.
I am also eating an awful lot. May be because circumstances have left me less in control (first week I was getting things from the freezer and had a good stock of salad / grab and go things in the fridge), may be emotional because I am eating to combat tiredness or worry (will address that in a minute) or just that I am working much harder (I normal for the old me).
I do worry about the cost of things. I have the builders' original estimate, I know how much the bathroom paneling cost (that's the biggest single cost) but didn't have a price for the kitchen bits, several items have been added (bathroom mirror) and the snagging in the bathroom must have incurred extra costs (the whole row of houses slopes gently down which means no straight walls, particularly in the bathroom). The panels are straight but additional strips of three different edgings have been added - in the corners of the room, around the window frame and door way etc) to bridge the gaps between straight panels and non straight walls.
When I stop and sit and think about it none of the costs is excessive - the new laminate floor in the large bedroom (which is so beautiful I just want to stare at it and not pollute it with the old - sometimes shoddy - furniture) actually cost less than the carpet we bought with wedding gift money for the front room, hall and landing (similar area) 29 years ago. I just think I am so used to not spending money. Probably why I keep panicking about clothes spending - my wardrobe is inadequate and has been run down for years.
I now have a price for the doors, including fitting and think I have the Builder's bill covered. Just need the roof estimate. The decorating was not budgeted for, mainly because I was expecting to do it later in the year (September onward). However I do have the money and it is more sensible to do everything in one go - fix/ decorate/ new floor (cleaning between at all stages) rather than have more upheaval later on.
I am liking the combating overwhelmed- ness. Several times I have been thinking 'must do this, this, this and this. Then Stop, Sit down, Think and then decide which task is most urgent/ essential. I am also, I really truly promise, taking notice when I am too tired and resting as appropriate.
Beauty - I have been offered another free Indian Head Massage. Will probably be next week as I was unsure of everyone else's comings and goings this week.
Next week I need to look at tackling paperwork and admin and Making More Money.
I am very aware of how much I need my own space. The builders are lovely but when they were here 7 days in a row I started getting twitchy. Even when they are not here I can only use a space temporarily because it has to be clear for them to work next day or I am clearing the area they need to work on next.
Yesterday I went out because my local history partner had phoned last week to say he was missing me. I normally see him on Thursdays but he is there on Tuesday as well. Came home and fell asleep in the afternoon. Worked until 11.50 on clearing the kitchen and set the alarm for 7 am. Did a bit more but have been falling asleep again on and off - I put the microwave on top of the freezer last night then found, when I was moving things to make more space for working. that I couldn't move the freezer with the added weight.
Went downstairs and Mrs Builder had cleaned all the worktops (I had got it to the stage where the only bits out were bits we might need for the kitchen work (spare legs/ plinth clips/ end caps) and screws. I was going to buy her some flowers but I think she is going on holiday with her son at weekend (Mr Builder is staying home - she's asked twice if she can leave him with me).
Two very full bins (general waste and paper) have been collected and two more sacks went into each when I brought them back. 129 items gone (those I counted). Went to the library as I also have a charity sack but bin was full - I came back with a shopping trolley (the old lady type box on wheels). Another lady was seeking to donate it and offered it to a member of staff first and then to me - she and her mother were having a 'massive clear out'. It has been suggested (mainly by my mother) that I needed one, so I can try it and donate it if it doesn't suit me.
Today I am grateful for libraries, for my bed and for the stocks (the reduced ones are wilting but still smell wonderful).
P.S. What is this 'football' of which you speak. I still haven't had time to watch last week's Holby and there are a couple of things I have watched one episode of and some I keep meaning to try.My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage0 -
