Not sure of the sex of this character or ethnicity but first thought Oriental because of the uptightness but obviously a too serious character.

Why do you feel the need to try to pigeonhole, what relevance does someone's ethnicity or gender have to anonymous posts on a web forum?

The word change was often used as a positive in the referendum debate.
About the time of the first referendum - there was one in 1975 - Hovis did an advert which made the point that change is not the same as progress.

But substitute change for uncertainty ( for they are one and the same unless you know pretty clearly what that change will look like) and it might seem as much of a negative as a positive.
Uncertainty is not the same as progress either.

"WAS" being the operative word. Hands up who thinks sending it into meltdown is progress.

You confused me for a minute there.

Around the time of the first refendum and for some time afterwards, NF referred to an extreme right wing organisation called the National Front.

Still - if the cap fits.....

Incidentally, for those saying there will be no second referendum, we just had it.

Not all leave camp are racists - far from it.

On the other hand, it seems unlikely that a racist would vote to remain - and both blutto's and Dird's posts seem racist to me.

I read Dird's post 1158 and it did not seem racist to me. It made criticisms of immigrants, but that is not racist per se. Could you clarify your post with evidence? Not saying you're wrong, but I'd like some explanation for making such strong remarks.

People are too complex to characterise in such simple terms. Incidentally, Chinese people I've known have been some of the friendliest and least uptight people I've met.

There was a post generalising Muslims about their ways of marriage, specifically interbreeding. I think that it has now gone.

It seems that a clean up operation by the powers that be has occurred so time to move on.

I've read dozens if not hundreds of comments on here on FB (some by my friends) and other websites denigrating the English, Northerners etc as thick, little englanders etc etc.

Strange that we don't see anyone up in arms about this?

All this debate has shown me is that that self appointed liberals who jump to accuse others of racism or preach tolerance, are themselves bigots and even less tolerant.

    That:

    - Democracy is praiseworthy as long as they get to choose the voters

    - Anything they disagree with is a lie

    - Any person they disagree with is a racist

    - Their measure of intelligence is how much you agree with them

It's a shame you can't quote it. It is a known fact that Brits of Pakistani ancestry tend to marry cousins, such that they have a huge problem with genetic diseases. Now this might sound racist to you, but it is in itself not a racist statement. The same is true of many Jewish groups, which is why some do genetic testing to select out unsuitable partners. And common knowledge says Norfolk is similar. :) Of course it is possible to use such a fact in a way that suggests the poster is a racist, but we won't know now.

The statement started "Most muslims..." and the implication was that the behaviour was beyond their control. I was one of those who made the forum team aware of it as they really needed to make sure they were comfortable with publishing it in view of its possible interpretation as religious hate speech.
Edit: To be clear, I think it was an attempt at humour, but was in very bad taste.

That is basically all I said. I deleted it because I knew there'd be PC lefties like Owen Jones on here getting their knickers in a twist because Islam is currently protected from criticism. blutto said something about them potentially breeding us out of existence or something stupid. I responded saying no as they tend to stick to themselves, in this case by marrying their cousins & that a colleague of mine had been promised to her cousin until he got in trouble with the police. The 2 muslim girls in my room also talk about their families & 1 day were listing countless family members with disabilities and my eyes were rolling as this was the same day she casually mentioned about potentially having to marry her cousin not long before.

It was not a joke and for many it is quite often beyond their control, just ask those girls in Pakistan recently who were burned alive for refusing to marry their cousins and causing "dishonour" to the family.

Islam is also not a race, just a bunch of people believing a work of fiction. If it were then 99% of muslims are racist based on the fact 1 of the girls looked at me with disgust at the thought of marrying a Shia because "they're not muslims". Whether these negative traits (incest & FGM) are a result of Islam or other parts of Pakistani society is the question; but a question not for this thread
