Hey BB, you seem to have your MoJo back - great stuff on the selling. I am so rubbish at this part of things. I hope the job stuff sorts itself out soon so you can make plans.

It might be worth taking advice on the pension vs mortgage overpayments. There are tax benefits to paying into your pension, and with low interest rates you might be better getting as much into your pension as possible, especially if you have no pension pot at all. I think you can take a lump sum out interest free at retirement age, which could be used to pay off any remaining mortgage. I am no expert but I would certainly look into this. Even a basic rate taxpayer still gets a 20% benefit.
    0% card was £1126.91 / Now £1502.37

    AFD March 2/15 NSD March 2/11 :T

Other debts paid since 1/1/14: £17,005

Hello, thanks for dropping by, good thinking batman re pension! Clearing the debt (again!) first and then will have a proper think :)

So wednesday last week, at sisters walked down stairs, last 2 steps skidded down them, managed to sprain my ankle  Only me, bro in law took me to walk in centre nothing broken just very swollen and bruised and pride dented :rotfl: Seriously only these things could happen to me, just waiting to see what disaster will come next :rotfl:

So yard owner did hoss for few days as couldnt walk so £24 spent, grrr, but plus side sold a few more ebay items so debt total is dropping. Updated totals below.

Sister had mentioned about an ornament that she wants for her birthday, had a look on amazon and have ordered today, had enough in vouchers from surveys, quidco etc so freee :D Still have a few pounds in amazon account again to start building up for next item.

    Debt as of today:
    Bcard - [STRIKE]£1071.39[/STRIKE] £993.07
    Virgin - £3687.65
    Debt 13-1-25 - £39K!!!
    Mortgage 13-1-25 - £63K

    Good afternoon :)

Lets start of with the bad first - my car decided to have issues yesterday, took to friendly garage, thought it may be EGR fault similar to one had 3 yrs ago which cost me nearly £1k, luckily easy fix but still £152  Lucky its council tax free month which is £176 so paid of and still £20 spare which will send to Bcard.

Good news I have a job :D Start on monday! Salary is just £1k less than I was earning so no real difference budget wise. My first payday will be end of the month so all savings can stay as savings :) With budget will be able to continue to save £500 a month into various pots. Again this all depends on me keeping a lodger as most of these savings £400 odd is from his money. But at least means if lodger leaves not desperate to replace, but I think I will keep one for now, got to meet by mortgage free by 45 target :rotfl:

So my savings as of today (excludes the money from rental deposit) is £9.8K. So need £285 to pay for car insurance in a few days, plus car is due mot and service end of the month so at least another £300 odd there.

So plan is to not pay of the debts straight away, keep min payment as all 0% and earn interest on savings whilst I can. Will pay the Bcard of as I can and leave the virgin to run the distance. Going to still try and earn those extra pennies to make extra inroads.

So.....pensions, there is a scheme, basic government scheme at work which is great. Do have a stakeholder pension from old job, need to call and find out about that and see what is happening, may be able to pay extra into that. Maybe friday after taking dad to day centre can sit down and see where I am at.

Dad at new day centre today, off shortly to pick him up, fingers crossed all ok as this will be great now we are all working. Watch this space.

My holiday was lovely, had a fabulous time, was more expensive than I planned but dont regret spending any penny. Relaxed on beach, my own private bit of pool, visited 2 Mayan sites including Chichen Itza, went horse riding and generally chilled out in the lovely sunshine. This picture sums it up perfectly, view from my room :D

Congratulations on the job, well done :j:j:j.
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

    Morning :)

Thank you all for your lovely words re the new job. Friday and nearly the end of a new working week. Tired this morning, getting used to getting up early and also all the learning I have done.

Think new job will be good, commute is ok, half hr in mornings or 15 mins if zero traffic, similar home time so cant moan.

Moneywise no real change, going to have a proper review at the end of the week, but no extra payments made, am trying to keep on top of surveys though and get back into comping and ebaying. Been good and taking lunches in everyday, though today may break it and go and treat myself to something cakey at lunchtime!
