    Hi BB,

I've been reading but not had time to post. Sounds like there has been a lot going on a major things to mull over. But you're working your way through them and will make good decisions I'm sure.

Quick one on the redundancy - any reason why it wouldn't be 100% tax free? Pretty sure it's all tax free up to £30k regardless of salary. Just a thought.

Hope all is well with the horse and that the job situation ends up whichever way you'd prefer it!

Hello, thanks for dropping by, re the tax redundancy only going by what the gov website says as they way its going the company is going under so would only get the statutory redundancy pay from the government, maybe worth a bit more investigation.

At the moment just feel a bit blah with the world, new beginnings/endings and timing is just weird.

On one hand new beginnings, finally got rid of ex and all his stuff and house in my name so thats great.

New endings possibly the job (more than likely) but its not yet and it is just a waiting game, to be honest want to all over with so can move on, just feel in limbo.

Time of year - it was about this time last year that mum started to get ill, although at the time we thought it was just a tummy bug, so did she I believe too and hey less than 2 months from now and it will be a year since she died.

Maybe am feeling so so with the world, as well as with the uncertainity of the job, plus worries about dad has all brought it back to me about how quick things happened with mum and how I never got to talk to her properly, all the things you can talk about when you know someone is dying, the past, the shared history, things you never knew about them. I never got that chance as the process was so quick. Also how much I miss the conversations, random chat, unrivalled support I got from her, just that life in the last year has had so many ups and downs and now with the job just feeling a bit lost with myself :(

Onto boring everyday news, NSD yesterday, NSD today planned, may start looking at holidays soon, although with the who knows maybe its worth waiting a week or so, bah! Booked my chimney sweep to come and do annual clean for saturday £50, not in budget but can come out of £100 misc budget I have each month so thats ok.

I know and fill with you the loss when you loose you Mum. It was a year last week that I lost my Mum and it is still so raw. We had moved into a house with an Annex for Mum and I had wished for a few good happy years together. Unfortunately life doesn't turn out as you dream of and sadly as soon as she moved in with us she was diagnosed with cancer. Her health declined and although unlike you I had time with her there were still things that either I couldn't feel I could ask or things I forgot to ask.
The Anniversary of that day the trumatic events that occurred with no doubt live with me for the rest of my life. I feel very lost myself still. I am slowly getting back to health as I was diagnosed with cancer the day after Mum died.
Basically try thinking more of the happy times you shared together. The pain will be there for a long time but I'm sure that like myself we couldn't have done anymore for our Mums than we did. Once we take that on board I think it helps. Lots of love Mrs M

Thank you so much for such kind words, in what I can imagine is still a crap time for you too. I am so pleased to hear that you are slowly regaining your health, there will always be hole in my life where mum was, like you say there would never have been enough time to ask all those questions. Just need to focus on the positives and get there somehow :)

NSD ruined yesterday as bought an e-book on special offer on amazon, 99p but used voucher received so in theory a NSD but not counting it.

So of out at lunchtime today to take dad to check out the day centre, hopefully that will work out ok. Sun is shining so thats all good too :)

Payday today, so budget is £1582, have £1589 so tight but do-able, this does include the £600 to savings though so thats all good. Chimney sweep booked in tomorrow, annual cost £50 but need it for insurance and the guys are great. There is also a fun pony show/BBQ at the yard tomorrow afternoon. May take my pony into the handy pony show be good fun, its £10, have £15 in my purse from cash4clothes so could afford it, but it would be nice to put that money away for something else. Wait and see about tomorrow see how it pans out on the day.

    Good morning :)

So weekend went well. Friday took dad to local day centre run by Alzheimers society, had a great feeling, he is going to do 2 days a week, monday and friday 10 till 4, includes lunch plus afternoon tea/cake etc, activities and a chance to socialise. First day yesterday and from what sister got out of dad seemed ok. She is picking him up friday afternoon so can do better assessment, but looks ok :)

Saturday chimney sweep round so set for winter, still have loads of coal and quite a lot of wood (still burning my old fence) so shouldnt need to get any more so no extra cost, definitely saves on the heating. Spent a few pennies and bought some sausages and then sister and nephew round and went to yard BBQ, didnt end up taking hoss in, saved some pennies, but nice social afternoon. Ordered monthly food shop too and came on sunday, all cupboards/freezer stocked up but not made and am definitely making progress on the budget there and making the best use of it.

Sunday didnt spend a penny, went out in the afternoon for a walk round back of where I live, lovely nature reserve, sun was shining :D

So over the weekend have also been sorting/tidying my house KM style, have done great so far, completed all clothes, bedding, towels, all of kitchen and half of diy/household bits. House definitely looks tidier and neater as a result. I think there are 2 reasons I am doing this, one so pleased finally that ex's stuff has gone and he was such a hoarder it has definitely made me realise I never need half the stuff I have and never want to be like he was. Secondly I think with all the uncertainity over the job recently and the what if's, that I need some sort of order in my life, so for now its the house, which isnt a bad thing.

So NSD yesterday, should be again today too. Another £10 amazon voucher from survey site has landed so have just under £30 to put towards Xmas or the like :)

    Good morning :)

Judgement day today, waiting for notice of an account agreement, today hopefully will know whether my job is safe or not, still probably be here for a few weeks or so, watch this space. At the moment putting off booking a holiday yet, still plan on going, have savings, just may go for longer than a week if goes pear shaped, if still have a job will be a week due to holiday allowance. Meantime letting me save a bit more.

2 good evenings last few nights and have nearly cleared my field of poo, hoping, although raining now, will be dry later and then maybe it will be done, then to keep on top of it. Good exercise too for the weight loss.

Some more pennies redeemed from survey sites, at the moment am £274 short on rental fund so this needs to be built up before spare money can go elesewhere. Have £33 due so thats a good start. Must do some more ebaying too. Other funds all have standing orders going to them each month so they build up on their own.

Fingers crossed for job news ....
Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

    Morning :)

So job news looks like a foregone conclusion, probably be a few weeks, keeping head down and carrying on for now. Doing a bit more research and looks like I should get paid my notice period as well as redundancy pay so in theory looking at a pay out of just over £11k, not sure if thats all taxable but whatever will be will definitely be great.

Aim is to not to work full time until after new year so have few months to take stock of life, help out with dad and nephew, have a holiday. Watch this space as they say. Definitely putting off booking a holiday so probably go away end november/december, again watch this space.

So good weekend again, friday had afternoon off, had farrier, cleared some more poo of field, had nephew to stay overnight. Saturday sister was meant to be doing sky dive (in aid of hospice mum was at) but was cancelled last minute due to weather, re-arranged for a few weeks time. Took dad to flu jab and social do at church, spent a few pennies buying cookies for nephew and then sat with sister and did mum's scrapbook, cards and random musings we had from funeral and when she was poorly, nice to have it all finished. Sunday didnt spend a penny, finished clearing my field of poo, picked and prepped loads of strawberries and beans, still more growing (really pleased with them :)).

Had 12 NSD in september, thats ok. Mortgage out today so a few pennies knocked off, standing orders of £600 out today to various savings accounts so they are all looking healthier today. Waiting for interest on savings to land tomorrow.

Sounds good. I am about to pay someone to clear the field of poo. Always in awe of people who manage to keep on top of theirs. It wont take her long as she can use the poover (poop hoover) but I just cant see how I can get to it this week and the field is really looking a mess here.

Would be great having a poover, but good old wheelbarrow and fork here, least it burns the calories (any excuse for cake :rotfl:) There is 4 horses in our field, 2 on full livery so only 2 of us clear it as the yard owner has more than enough so ideally needs a wheelbarrow a day which isnt always possible, but now its cleared need to keep on top of it, harder in the winter but determined to do it.

So money wise interest has been applied to various accounts £1.50 over all, wow so rich :rotfl:

Expenses have been paid so £54 sent to rental fund to re-pay the money borrowed, £210 still short so a way to go but will get there, hoping my survey money drops in soon.

So having a think about the redundancy pay, say taking a figure of £11k. So in an ideal world would find a job and get first payday end of january so would need (assuming no payday end of this month) 3 months money, if I carried on saving need £4.5K (approx £1500 a month) so this would leave me £6.5k "spare".

So could top up all savings accounts to targets which are:
    Fun - £1k - assume use 3 months savings would need £740
Hols - £500 - N/A as target met and next target on par
    Horse - £1140 - assume use 3 months savings would need £420
    House - £1k - assume use 3 months savings would need £720
Ins - £900 - N/A as target met and next target on par
    ISA - £8.4k - assume use 3 months savings would need £5029
    Misc - £1200 - assume use 3 months savings would need £490

So in theory need £7399 but if reduced ISA target to £5K need £3990, round it up to £4K so have £2.5K spare.

I think then would use this £2.5K to put into ISA for emergencies and then revise my savings standing orders. At present pay £600 a month into this.

I think ideally I need to pay
    £100 to insurance fund
    £100 to horse fund
    £50 to fun
    £50 to house
    £100 to emergencies

So I could then use the extra £200 a month to start overpaying the mortgage, this would at present decrease my term by 7 and half years which is definitely worth doing.

Now at the moment these are all guesses as not sure of figures etc and also this assumes I can get a job which pays about the same amount as current, but nice to have an idea of what could be. Watch this space
