Good morning
Apologies long time no see. So first things first lets get the bad stuff out of the way first....since last posting my boiler broke over christmas, fixed now but a big bill, have had a nasty cold and still got a lingering cough, slowly improving, my lovely farrier for my hoss died, and as we speak am waiting for virgin to come and fix my broken landline, seriously you couldnt make this stuff up :rotfl:
I think I have had my fair share of bad luck, plus so many more peoples, must be time for a change!!
Debt....well lets just say this isnt good, but a plan to work on that!
So good things, had a lovely christmas and new year with family. Didnt spend too much.
My holiday was lovely, had a fabulous time, was more expensive than I planned but dont regret spending any penny. Relaxed on beach, my own private bit of pool, visited 2 Mayan sites including Chichen Itza, went horse riding and generally chilled out in the lovely sunshine. This picture sums it up perfectly, view from my roomDebt 13-1-25 - £39K!!!

So onto moneywise, feel a bit of a fraud on this board as not managing to get mortgage free at the moment and should be back into debt free, but am here so will suck up the debt and banish that mortgage somehow.
The last 14 months have had so many ups and downs and really need to go forward somehow. So these are my 2017 goals:-- Debt Free (again)
- Start banishing that mortgage
- More travelling - love to go abroad again but we wait and see
- More work on the house - my bedroom and hallway minimum
So my situation...
Still currently unemployed, have a job interview next monday, seems great but the commute maybe too far and also worries about dad.
My dad has alzheimers and isnt improving, slowly declining so need to think as to whether to temporary put work on hold and look after him. Its all dependent on finances. Have called friendly CAB lady to make an apptmt to assess options. We believe he is entitled to higher rate of attendance allowance now, blue badge and also carers allowance. Watch this space as they say.
Debt currently stands at:-
Virgin CC - £3724 - 0% interest
Bcard - £1071 - 0% interest
Total £4795. Currently paying as much as I can to all, need to get it cleared before 0% period ends but need to up my game.
Current savings (excluding rental deposit) is £8.2K which sounds great, but part of this is redundancy money and without a job or income need this to live on at the moment. Am due my statutory notice pay mid Jan, should be another £3k ish so that will keep me going for a few months. If I secure a job, or sort finances with dad, either way once income secured will review debt and savings situation again.
Have reviewed all the savings accounts so all at best rate of interest I can get at the moment, so all my money is working for me.
Need to get back into ebay and surveys as have been neglecting at the moment.
I feel on the verge of depression at the moment, so many things have gone wrong, and my confidence is an all time lowI think I would like and OH but need to get my mojo back somehow. Everything is still up in the air and I slowly need to regain control somehow. At the moment for me its slowly sorting a few bits in the house, small things but helping my state of mind to declutter.
Hoping 2017 is going to be a good year:)Debt 13-1-25 - £39K!!!

Hey BB. It' good to see you back but sorry you feel so low. You've had so much on your plate in the last year or so, that it's no wonder. Is it worth going to talk to your GP?
The holiday sounds and looks fabulous. We've had some amazing holidays over the years, and whilst I've not always been able to technically afford them (;)) I refuse to allow the memories of them to be tainted with regret. That would just make a mockery of taking a wonderful trip in the first place.
Best of luck with the job hunt and/or sorting out your Dad's care. You sound like a lovely daughter, and this must be tough on you to watch. It's a horrible disease. Sorry to hear about your farrier too, that's sad.
Keep strong BB, you can do this.0% card was £1126.91 / Now £1502.37

Good morning
Thanks for dropping by mfmaybe. Have been to GP about cough, thought about mentioning being down but decided not to. Health has slowly recovered and that has definitely helped. Dad we just watch this space, looks like we are entitled to carers allowance so that would help, even with just getting dad an extra day at the day centre, currently applying for this. Sister has annotated maybe she would like to go part time to look after dad so lots of discussions.
Had interview yesterday and seemed to go ok, waiting to hear back now. If not will start looking properly for new jobs. Received notice of notice pay so have applied for that, should get that in a few weeks.
Lovely weekend, went with sister and nephew to London to see London Eye, sis previously had tickets, I paid for train. Then sunday went to see some friends in the afternoon.
So Sains CC which was at 0 is now at £151. Have ordered wormers for me and friend for year, plus train. Paid of £13 which was "spare" in bills account so £138 to find. Friend will give me half wormer money which is £60 so not much to find myself.
Next 2 months are free council tax and water so there will be £424ish to throw at CC's, so thats a huge amount.
Am thinking about increasing lodgers rent, just by £25 a month, as council tax is being raised by 3.5%, am going to approach convo later tonight.Debt 13-1-25 - £39K!!!

Good morning
Havent managed to speak to lodger yet as he has been out last few nights, will do soon tho. Small refund of £16 to CC from product returned yesterday. Spent £11 on paint from my account, now have all the bits I need to finish decorating my bedroom
Still waiting to hear from job, why do they take ages.
In the meantime up and down more with dad, the lovely day centre he goes to round the corner run by the Alzhiemers society is being shut end of march, so much investigation into care and other things dad could do, so frustrating as its 2 days a week dad goes for day, we dont have to worry, he is looked after and he has great social time
And to top the icing on the cake yesterday my uncle called and my auntie, who is dads sister, who has slightly more advanced dementia (although hers is vascular) has declined more and has now been admitted to a home. So we need to make arrangements to go and see her soon, thinking sister and I will go first to see how she is before we take dad down.
Oh the joys of getting old and the manic f**k it that is my life at the moment, sigh.Debt 13-1-25 - £39K!!!

So sorry to read you are up against it at the moment. Totally understandable and empathy here too.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!0 -

Good morning, just
Freeezing today, grateful for heating, hoss out in super warm duvet rug and lots of hay as grass frozen.
So catch up since last post.
Have been good and started listing on ebay, few things end today and in the week, definitely pennies that are needed. Will carry on and keep listing. Surveys and comps up to date, so money making sidelines are on track. Have applied for another few jobs, waiting to see.
Had my notice pay through so can pay bills for next few months without breaking into savings. Angry though as they took of £500 for benefits I could have claimed  going to ring and appeal.
Big news mainly as have booked another holiday :rotfl: Off 1st week of easter for 5 days with sis, bro in law and nephew to euro disney, with an excursion to paris. Sister wanted us all to go. Have paid of my share already with part of my notice pay. Is B&B, so just need to save for lunch, dinner and discretionary spending money.
Dad will need to go into respite care for a week, currently got an appointment on tuesday afternoon with care home to investigate. The timing is good as the day centre closes end of march and then he can straight into doing something else. It will be interesting to see how he gets on for that week and then to plan the future afterwards about where we go with dad.
In the meantime we are applying for carers allowance and blue badge, these are on the list of things to do this afternoon, exciting
On a wee side note was talking to friend about jobs, pensions etc, and I said I wanted to retire at 60, mum died at 70 and dont want to be working right up till then, so thats the ideal. Now at the moment dont have enough for a pension, but.....if I paid of my mortgage early could easily consider this. So said I would like to have my mortgage paid of by the time I am 45:eek: thats 6 years. So would need to pay of an extra £800 a month! Hey I love a challenge and would love to see my friend eat his own words if I achieve this. So countdown is from my birthday - 8 March this year - my 39th and see from there.
Debtwise, as not on signature going to put it at the end of each post so can see it coming down - a great incentive.

Freeezing again, costing me lots of extra in hay as putting so much out in the field, roll on summer!
Good few ebay sales, some posted today and others ready for tomorrow. Few more ending this week, great seeing the pennies roll in. Have withdrawn first lot of pennies and sent to bcard, clearing this first and then virgin. Love to see the figures fall on here.
