I had the same problem Windows 10. I also have lost my lovely introductory screen and don't like any of the ones Windows 10 offer (up to about 20 rejected, yes I know I am fussy!)
Find out who you are and do that on purpose (thanks to Owain Wyn Jones quoting Dolly Parton)

With Classic Shell, I don't need to get used to it. :D
True, I almost got tempted to try it but thought I would stick with the new tiled start menu and I now prefer the extra flexibility it gives over the old 'classic' style W7 menu.

I've postponed my upgrade 4 times now....still undecided whether to do it or not!!! Can you just keep postponing...or will it eventually say DO IT OR LOSE IT!!!!
How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)

In my case, it didn't even say that.

One second I was browsing the net, the next second up flashed the message "Restarting", followed by "Updating to Windows 10. Do not switch off your computer".

I too have had this this morning.

currently a challenge to find what I used to go straight to - entailing in a few 'forgotten password' routines.
Note to the homepage is 'msn' previously I had virginmedia.

At least does appear to be faster.
I used to work for Tesco - now retired - speciality Clubcard

After hearing one too many stories of Microsoft downloading and installing Windows 10 I installed the GWX Control Panel.

That irritating pop up is removed and any attempt from Microsoft to sneak the Windows 10 software on to my laptop is blocked. If I want to I can install it. But I don't. I'm happy with Windows 7 professional.

People are generally resistant to change so I'm not surprised Microsoft have to use more forceful methods to update people's computers!.

Do you also not update your drivers because your happy with the current versions?. Do you not update your antivrius because your happy with how it currently works?. Windows 10 is just an update to windows which works a lot better than windows 7.

Forceful, as in doing it without permission?

I didn't go out this morning, to find Ford had swapped my car for a different model, so why are MS swapping my OS, without my permission?

If you take your car in for a service and they updated the software to a better version would you complain that they did it without your permission?.

As you are aware Microsoft constantly release updates to their software and I'm sure you have never complained about any of these?. It just happens that this update makes windows look different so now you have decided to complain about it!. You don't seem to have any actual problems with it other than it being different!
