Out of all those who have upgraded to W10, how many would have done so if it weren't free? Would you have done so if it were £100?I don't like morning people. Or mornings. Or people.0

As the PC gets renewed every 3ish years I would be on it sooner rather than later anyway.

The only Microsoft OS I've paid for on personal equipment, rather than it being bundled with the system, was Win 7. That was only because I had a system which had the misfortune to be running Vista and it drove me crazy. Now I've upgraded 7 to 10 because it was free. Took me some time to find and configure freeware to replace Windows Media Center, as it had worked well with the cheap USB TV receiver I have. I still use the Windows 7 Backup and Restore utility because it is better for my needs than File History.
I would go back to 7 if it weren't for the fact that I help out people who have Windows 10, and it's nice to know what they're asking about. Another old Vista machine I have is happily running Ubuntu now - having subjected it to the 8 preview, I felt sorry for it.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the In My Home MoneySaving, Energy and Techie Stuff boards. I still don't understand the "football fan" mentality of many posters here (not you!). It's as if they see their choice of using Windows 10 as a tribal identity; they develop an ignorant sense of superiority over other OS users.
I could apply the same to some 7 users. 'if you must install it, install all these things too, to make it look like 7' etc.
I'd be fascinated to know why people have become unthinkingly attached to Win10 in a way that didn't happen with previous Windows incarnations. Is it just the free upgrades that have left people feeling like they owe Microsoft a favour, and thus feel like they have a duty to become brand ambassadors and promote Win10 in return...?
Not unthinkingly in my case. They added a store - that's an easier place to install and reinstall software from. It starts faster, it looks better (in my opinion, not yours), I think the Start menu is an IMPROVEMENT (I can access my most used programs more quickly and lots of other little improvements.
Also people seem to slag it off for being designed towards tablets/laptops - guess what - lots of poeple have those! I use 10 on a tablet and a desktop and I find it great for both - it certainly fixes 8, 8.1's 'too big' and 'too tablet' start menu.
Also, I think I've done more time on Windows 7, 8, 8.1 and 10 than a lot of the people who are sticking with 7 and I think that a lot of the people clinging onto 7 (not a problem in itself, at all) haven't given 10 a chance, or think it's the same as 8.0 -

and this doesn't apply to (the desperate to hang on to) win7 users???"The Holy Writ of Gloucester Rugby Club demands: first, that the forwards shall win the ball; second, that the forwards shall keep the ball; and third, the backs shall buy the beer." - Doug Ibbotson0 -

No. I've never seen a Windows 7 user pleading with a Windows 10 user to change back to Windows 7 and not be swayed by the sheer novelty of W10.
I have seen the opposite. W10 fanboys seem convinced that they know better than anyone else what OS should be on every other person's computer.0 -

You seem to have a particular crusade against anyone who posts that they like it.
I'm sure that no one really cares what anyone else has on their PC. However, this is a forum and everyone is entitled to pass on their own experiences on their own PC's.
Turning this into a silly argument, as you are, seems a bit pointless, but, I'm sure, you will carry it on.Drinking Rum before 10am makes you

My Windows 10 now looks like a very close facsimile of Windows 7. Classic Start Menu + a hack to make "Recent Folders" re-appear. That was my biggest productivity feature in W7 yet it was replaced with the useless "Most Used Folders/Places" type thing in W10. Very lengthy threads on forums asking MS to restore the old feature to W10 but MS remains impervious.
Also I had to do something about the incessant unnecessary low memory warnings with Firefox.
I stay with W10 though because it does run all my legacy USB stuff (surprise) and is fast and stable compared to W7.0
