Ally_E. said:I have just switched from Bulb over to Octopus and our first bill is due soon. I usually took the meter readings on the 7th and the bill was produced on the 9th using the meter readings. Now the Octopus pay date is 15th. If I submit readings on the 7th, will they guesstinate my usage from 7th until 15th? I'm trying to figure out how to best arrange payment and meter readings. Or should I just move payment date to the 9th? Not sure if 2 days is enough for Octopus to produce a statement. If you submit a reading on-line to Octopus, you usually get an email with a statement attached within a couple of hours. For example, we help an older relative and they submitted a reading this morning and by 10AM they received an up to date statement for the last month.1

Your payment date is not linked to your bill date.Ally_E. said:I have just switched from Bulb over to Octopus and our first bill is due soon. They don't work like Bulb, they take the payment every month on the date they told you and they will remind you to submit regular readings to produce accurate bills. They are fast and usually within a day or 2 after you submit the readings they send you a real bill.Ally_E. said:I have just switched from Bulb over to Octopus and our first bill is due soon. No , it's optional
If you do want one down the line they are the only one using their own install teamsEx forum ambassador

Octopus has its own install teams but it also uses sub-contractors. It used to be SMS but based on the installation of my replacement SMETS2 meters, they now use Energise (with ‘working on behalf of Octopus Energy emblazoned on their van’).MikeE67 said:

FWiW, in my opinion, Octopus has one of the best dedicated smart meter teams in the industry. Octopus identified an issue with my particular model of electricity meter; they notified me of the problem; they arranged a replacement meter/visit, and offered compensation.2 -
Octopus also sorted out my smart meter problem so I no longer have to give monthly readings.[Deleted User] said:FWiW, in my opinion, Octopus has one of the best dedicated smart meter teams in the industry. Octopus didn't even install the meters but sorted out the problem anyway !

The moment that you switched suppliers your meters became Octopus’ responsibility irrespective of who installed them. Ofgem has imposed an obligation on all suppliers to take action to rectify issues with non working smart meters. Sadly, some suppliers are either not interested or lack the knowledge to deal with these problems.MikeE67 said:
