[Deleted User] said:The moment that you switched suppliers your meters became Octopus’ responsibility irrespective of who installed them. Ofgem has imposed an obligation on all suppliers to take action to rectify issues with non working smart meters. Sadly, some suppliers are either not interested or lack the knowledge to deal with these problems.
The supplier who originally installed them didn't want to know and neither did the supplier that I switched to before Octopus.

Ofgem restated this obligation in June last year:
Quote: Suppliers should be putting the right processes in place to correctly identify where they have gained a SMETS2 meter through churn and to be working through any technical difficulties which will enable the supplier to operate the meter in smart mode.Unquote
The installer can do nothing more than install meters so there is no point in asking them to resolve issues. They cannot even replace a meter without the supplier taking some actions before hand. Old suppliers are not interested as under the SMETS2 layered security they no longer have access to your meter on the DCC system.1 -
I've been an Octopus Energy customer since December, and chose their Tracker tariff. Possibly a mistake, as the wholesale price of electricity shot up to its highest ever at the start of January
Has anyone else been on the Tracker tariff for any length of time? Not sure whether to hold tight and hope the price dips nicely in the summer. Oh well...
I'm also having trouble getting hold of them via customer services. My email's gone unanswered for 8 days now. Not great.0 -
Tracker Electricity is back to reasonable rates, Todays rates - Octopus Tracker v1 Electricity Unit rate: 14.85 p/kWh Standing charge: 16.88 p/dayGas- I think wise people fixed Gas many months ago and/or use seperate suppliers for GasOctopus as well as other companies seem to be giving priority to those who communicate via Twitter1

How long do they take to change over the account. My current (BG) tariff finishes 19 Feb and I don't want to incure any transfer charges, but I don't want to pay BG a penny more than I have to.0

Switch process takes 17 days, no exit fees are payable to existing supplier if you switch within 49 days of the end of your current tariff. https://www.energyhelpline.com/help/how-do-i-avoid-exit-fees-when-switching-energy

In addition, as I found out during my recent switch to Octopus, you can select a switch date some 44 days ahead! Very useful if you're on a cheaper tariff and want to keep the benefits until the end of the contract.
