Thanks for this information, it's much appreciated. No it hasn't, its only been one week so far. Is six weeks the timescale that refunds have to be provided within?

Yes, and some suppliers leave it right until the last minute. Sometimes, if you complain, they magically find your final reading and sort the bill out :)

They've been cheaper or not? Seems to me, they are expensive even British Gas or EDF. I got an email tonight from Club Energy, where I can save more than £159 PA, I couldn't believe and don't want to open that email with comparisons but few days ago, I switch to the cheapest tarrif which they have at the moment, I will attach a photo. I was kinda shocked to find in that email with comparisons, British Gas, EDF etc, have cheaper tarrif's than my cheaper tarrif with Octopus!

That's helpful to know, thanks very much. Sounds like I'll have to keep the pressure on via email, but also be more realistic about waiting a few more weeks!

You were shocked to find out that other suppliers are offering cheaper tariffs than your new, cheaper tariff with Octopus? I've always thought that the energy market is a very changeable thing, with prices and tariffs changing all the time. At least the Energy Club on here helps to make life a bit easier (and cheaper) for us! Are you tied into a contract on your new tariff with Octopus, would they charge you exit fees if you wanted to switch to a cheaper supplier?

Octopus 12 month fixed rate tariff via Uswitch and sometimes 12 month fixed rate tariff Octopus tariff via MSE cheap energy club cheaper than most customers Octopus Energy existing 12 month fixed rate tariff, no exit penalties with Octopus.

In fact someone signing up directly to Octopus website today to 12 month fixed rate tariff will pay more than someone signing up today to Octopus 12 month fixed rate tariff via Uswitch and maybe via CEC depending on what Octopus 12 Month fixed rate tariffs are being currently offered via CEC -

Just out of interest what method /site did you sign up to Octopus via ????

The refund, if appropriate, should be carried out 6 weeks after the final bill is produced BUT the issue is that OFGEM, in their infinite wisdom, have not yet tied the suppliers down to a timescale for a final billing - for example Together Energy took 8 weeks to produce an incorrect final bill for us last year - and a further 6 months+ and an intervention from the Ombudsman to produce another ,incorrect, bill:( - and we still haven't seen any sign of the incorrect bill credit being refunded:mad:
  • move quick and easy to the extent I was worried no dramas at all lol slight increase after 2 months but still, less than I was PAYG with EON and feel im doing a bit with the green vibes
finances disaster but baby-stepping back to security:

    2024 let's do this !!

    ????

Coming to end of 12 month fix. Had an email from Octy inviting me to sign up for a further 12 months. Out of curiosity checked on moneysupermarket and lo and behold the same tariff is cheaper through them.

I have emailed Octy and had a rant at them about customer loyalty etc and asked if they would match for an existing customer.

    Just goes to show!!

Yes currently Octopus are probably cheaper for most people via MSE/MSM than via Uswitch

Based on my postcode both 12 M Fix

    MSE/MSM
    kWh 2.594p G 16.800p per day
    kWh 13.902p E 19.215p per day

    Uswitch

    kWh 2.499 G 17.85p per day
    kWh 13.923 E 20.64p per day

Direct via Octopus website same rates as £50 referral link

    kWh 2.982p G 17.85p per day

    kWh 15.057p E 20.643p per day
