Emailed this morning asking for credit refund, received reply 12 minutes later, get what pay for, often pays to pay a little bit more for better service.:)

I find that this is the exception rather than the rule. I find that they can take up to a week to reply nowadays.
  • Longest wait I have had for a reply was a month ago when I emailed on a Sunday and reply came in 9.16am on the Monday

Yes currently Octopus are probably cheaper for most people via MSE/MSM than via Uswitch

Based on my postcode both 12 M Fix

    MSE/MSM
    kWh 2.594p G 16.800p per day
    kWh 13.902p E 19.215p per day

    Uswitch

    kWh 2.499 G 17.85p per day
    kWh 13.923 E 20.64p per day

Direct via Octopus website same rates as £50 referral link

    kWh 2.982p G 17.85p per day

    kWh 15.057p E 20.643p per day

Out of mere inquisitiveness I have found your statement is not accurate. Taking a range of kWh, for your postcode USwitch is cheaper for Gas,bust MSE/MSN cheaper for electricity, though the differences are quite small.

I did not say comparison for my postcode showed MSE cheap energy club would be cheaper than Uswitch for everyone.
  • I switched to Octopus last year and have been very satisfied with the service given, however, I am disappointed that now am moving to another house on 12 Feb 2020 and have filled in the required Moving Form on Octopus website. They have informed me that the connection to this new property will take place on the 23 Feb 2020.
I have emailed Octopus advising them the I am 80 years old and have Medical issues, Arthritis and mobility problems
How can I possibly wait for 13 days for Gas and Electricity to be connected in the winter months.
So far no acknowledgement received from Octopus to my emails.
Are Octopus becoming a victim of their own success?
    Can anyone help Please?

You have misunderstood the process, check here for more details:
23rd Feb is when Octopus will become your supplier at the new property, it would seem likely that you didn't give them enough notice to be able to take over the supply from the first day you arrived.
From your arrival date up to the 23rd Feb you will be supplied by the current supplier at that address, so do take meter readings when you move in and do contact the existing supplier there to arrange payment.
Once you know who the current supplier is, I would suggest you post again here just in case there are any known issues with that particular supplier.

  • Thank you so very much for your information and advice,.. so relieved to know I won't be left with no means of heating or cooking.
My Chair and bed are both electrically operated
I've just checked the paperwork for the property and the current provider is SSE for both Gas and Electric and a Smart meter is in place

    Kind regards,
     julie40,

Just a note for any Octopus customers. I was on  Exclusive Octopus 12M Fixed May 2019 v1. I use the MSE Cheap Energy Club. When I do a comparison it doesn't show the  Exclusive Octopus 12M Fixed February 2020 v1 in the results. The latter is considerably cheaper but it doesn't appear anywhere in the results.  I was about to switch away using my CEC account but decided to email Octopus to see if I was on their cheapest tariff. They emailed back a "review your quote" link with a "Yes, change my tariff" button to click. I clicked and my new tariff started the next day. It might be worth checking the Octopus web site or email them before switching away with the MSE CEC. It's on the Octopus web site for my post code. It's also in the drop down list of tariffs in my CEC account. I've emailed MSE CEC about it but as yet, no reply. If I change my account provider details to, for example to EDF and pick one of those tariffs, the Exclusive Octopus 12M Fixed February 2020 v1 now shows in the comparison results.

I got a reply from MSE CEC as follows,

    Thanks for getting in touch.

The Exclusive Octopus 12M Fixed February 2020 v1 tariff is only available to new customer switching to Octopus. As you've listed Octopus Energy as your current supplier, their exclusive tariffs will not show up in the comparison results.

    Hope this helps explain.

All Octopus customers who are on 12 month fixed charges should be asking Octopus if they can switch to tariff mentioned above which is shown via this link https://octopus.energy/tariffs/ -  full list of our available and historical tariffs
