Octopus Energy reviews: Give your feedback

As per the T&C (my emphasis): "Entrants will have a Personal Target calculated for them by Octopus Energy, based on their “annual quantity” (or AQ) of gas as outlined in Uniform Network Code H3.2.1 (the “Personal Target”). The AQ is calculated by Xoserve and will be based on historical data, recorded before the start of the qualifying period."badger09 said:
I'm curious. What 'historical data' will be used to calculate the 'annual quantity' on which the personal reduction target will be based?masonic said:This might be of interest to anyone using Octopus for gas:I don't know how many gas customers Octopus has, but presumably it is a small fraction of its total ~3m customers, many of whom won't sign up. So the odds of winning and share of the final pot everyone who hits their target gets might be worth the effort of signing up! Shame I don't have a gas supply.
You can find some information from Xoserve about how the AQ is calculated here and here.

Thanks for the links masonic. Must admit, I'm not really any wiser. I was trying to establish whether the 'historical data' would be based on the previous use in a specific property. If it is, then there's no chance of us reducing our usage below that 'historical data' since previous owners hardly ever had the CH heating on.masonic said:

Anyone else seeing random (massive) gas readings around midnight on their data? It's not affecting the meter reads but it's annoying non-the-less.

4.29kWp Solar system, 45/55 South/West split in cloudy rainy Cumbria.0 -
I have smart meters and this doesn't happen to me. Do you have anything that could account for this like fridge, freezer or something else. I wouldn't expect a fridge or freezer to use that much though in such a short period. Is this a constant spike or an occasional spike?Spies said:Anyone else seeing random (massive) gas readings around midnight on their data? Someone please tell me what money is0 -
If Spies has a gas fridge I'd be amazed. Although it would be an interesting option!wild666 said:

It's Gas, its every few nights and it's not billed usage as the meter isn't increasing by that amount, it's most odd.wild666 said:

Do you see the same in your data if you download it from n3rgy.com ?Spies said:It's Gas, its every few nights and it's not billed usage as the meter isn't increasing by that amount, it's most odd.

I'd say reading back on the time scale it looks like the peak is about 8pm the previous evening rather than midnight.Spies said:Anyone else seeing random (massive) gas readings around midnight on their data? It's not affecting the meter reads but it's annoying non-the-less.

Still a massive spike though.

My reading of it is that they will use what data they have available, so if you have only recently moved into the property you may be out of luck, but you could always sign up and then ignore the promotion if you don't get a reasonable target.badger09 said:
