I have just signed up for it. When do I have to upload a photo of my meter ?
    I haven't got a updated smart meter yet, I'm stuck with a smet1

The qualifying period of the competition begins at 00:01 on Wednesday 8th December 2021 and ends on Tuesday 1st March 2022 at 23:59, you will need to update your meter reading and upload a photo at least 3 times during that period (say once a month).
The upload link is on the offer page in the FAQ section

    Thanks @MWT
So does that mean I can upload the photo of my meter today and submit a gas reading as well.?

No, it has to be done during the period of the competition, and that doesn't start until the 8th.

ex Avro customer not impressed with octopus so far. Getting the run around on a credit transfer issue from Avro, "not our problem"  seems to be their stance.  ok so who deals with these issues ?   I await their response..........

Quick question, those with smart gas meters, how does it show under your account page, mine still looks like a traditional meter where you can manually submit a reading?

That would suggest that Octopus have not yet taken control of the smart meter by uploading their security certificates.
That can take a little while at times, but if it doesn't change in a week I'd suggest you email smart@octopus.energy.

Are you still waiting for your credit to transfer or are do you have an issue with the final bill calculation?

  • Re gas / Cambo oil field, as an aside I sometimes question the strength of my own and others' environmental / climate change aspirations if it did come to a Russian-inspired gas or indeed  oil shortage.

it’s the process not octopus fault there is a small administration team at a defunct company that have to issue final bills and then lass all that infomation on when tonik went bust Scottish power took a year to give me my credit refund back, and that was before all these huge amounts of failures; this is avro not octopus really, octopus can’t do anything untill they have all the infomation it’s been a far better sun solr than most from what I’ve seen, what’s the actual issue?

This might be of interest to anyone using Octopus for gas:
I don't know how many gas customers Octopus has, but presumably it is a small fraction of its total ~3m customers, many of whom won't sign up. So the odds of winning and share of the final pot everyone who hits their target gets might be worth the effort of signing up! Shame I don't have a gas supply.
I'm curious. What 'historical data' will be used to calculate the 'annual quantity' on which the personal reduction target will be based?
