niktheguru said:... perhaps green energy will come at a premium to start with due to setup and infrastructure costs. Is everyone willing to pay that? The answer is yes, and we're paying that premium at the moment. On the same site as Dogger Bank A P1 you'll find East Anglia One. The dream would be to go totally off grid for energy when we get our forever home. Enough solar panels/roof tiles/whatever the best bang for buck technology is at that time for electric, with enough battery storage to keep things running during the winter months. Probably looking at heat pump and AC for hot water and heating/cooling.Pennies holding up the Pounds.0

We can all dream. I have a 7kWp array: total generation last December was 147kWhs. My best day was 10.3kWhs and worst day 300Whs. Anyone wanting to go off grid in the winter with a heat pump will need a very big solar array and a massive battery.BargainBear said:The dream would be to go totally off grid for energy when we get our forever home. Forever home will hopefully have enough land that I'd love to have space for a decent sized array as well as a small wind farm to make the most of everything mother nature has to offer. I'm hoping by that time that battery technology for the end user will have caught up to meet our needs.Pennies holding up the Pounds.0

Headlines today, Octopus fixed rate gas is up again, 5.01p+ kwh rate, now 24% above October 1st energy cap, that equates to two more huge energy cap rises 1 April 2022 and 1 October 2022 albeit those taking out Octopus fixed rate gas tariff who are not aware will be paying that much above energy cap this winter. Before someone says about high gas wholesale prices, it is one of the most expensive gas fixed kwh ratesOctopus standard fixed rate Electricity kwh rate is now the same as October 1st energy cap maximum1

As I have posted before, I think that Octopus is slowly but deliberately moving away from the supply of gas. The Company’s UK focus is now very much on renewable energy; technology; heat pump R&D and production, and innovative time-of-use electricity tariffs. Their CEO is also on record as saying that the price of gas has to rise to encourage people to move across to heat pumps.bristolleedsfan said:Headlines today, Octopus fixed rate gas is up again, kwh rate now 24% above October 1st energy cap, that equates to two more huge energy cap rises 1 April 2022 and 1 October 2022 albeit those taking out fixed rate tariff who are not aware will be paying that much above energy cap this winter. Before someone says about high gas wholesale prices, it is one of the most expensive gas fixed kwh rates1 -

Yes it is, Octopus tend to price flexible variable tariff below energy cap, some of the earlier monthly named versions have not had all increases passed on.

Thanks. I’m on Go Faster but my gas was with PFP who have gone bust. So Octopuses Flexible Gas tariff looks a good option if Octopus allow me to switch to it.bristolleedsfan said:tlcgrantham said:Is Octopus Flexible Gas tariff in effect fixed by the Price Cap at 4p kWh until 1 April 2022.
