I've run a few quotes using Octopus Flexible, which may be the closest to tracker, as a comparison but they all come out higher.
Seems to me there's no point in switching away from Octopus but is it best to switch to another of its tariffs.
I investigated installing a smart meter a few weeks ago but the electricity supply can't be got at without dismantling a cupboard and no point in smart metering just gas. The Octopus installer said he wouldn't bother with a smart meter anyway as the savings from running a couple of appliances off peak will be small.
Either switch out to a cheaper supplier ASAP
OR get a smart meter ASAP and move onto go faster.
The smart meter installer prob said all those things to get out of installing your meter because he/she couldn't be bothered to take your cupboard down as it would be more hassle for them.
I would go on go faster all day long, that's where the savings are and they are not minimal, which is why I harassed telegraph Sam into doing so after he was dithering on tracker for months on end, expecting the imaginary trendline to suddenly become a reality. If you go on go faster you will easily nearly half your costs compared to trackers current prices.

Octopus took over dual energy fixed we had for 3 years from 'Engie'. It came to an end Jun21.
Attempted switch was halted due to apparent token/ prepayment GAS meter on national database. They then insisted an engineer must come and replace the meter. Since we are in the house there was NEVER a prepayment gas meter! Landlord pays by direct debit to them for last 3 years!
We complained and they said after pressuring by us only on mention of complain to send a picture of a meter then they will change meter type on gas national database!
Its been now over 2 months! We had to stay on flexible rate with Octopus, lost our fixed deal from June and how long more this change of meter type can take them?
Can they do this prevent you from switching?????0 -

Does anyone know if Octopus have had a price rise yet - perhaps it's due in October?Thanks0

There was a price rise earlier this year but I think it was different for individual tariffs, for example for variable and for one fixed rate deal replacing another. The advice I was given and followed was to change to a fixed rate now rather than later.Telegraph Sam

If Octopus are 100% sourced by windpower does that mean that they are less subjected to the current wholesale cost pressures than others that have a more traditional energy "mix"?Telegraph Sam

I may be misquoting Octopus PR Dept but the impression is given that they are at least very "green / renewable" in what they source, possibly more so than others. They might like to tap into your solar panels when the wind lets them down.Telegraph Sam
