    The meter that I have is an Aclara. From what I can deduce there is only one register. Do I have to push or turn or tweak a button to get it to display export data? I don't know if the forum mechanics allow me to send a pic but you are probably familiar with this meter anyway. Or is this something that will only emerge once the meter is fully commissioned, hooked up and working?

    I had an Aclara fitted today by EDF. Press the "A" button and eventually it will say "total import" followed by "total export".

  • I moved to Go Faster a month ago and don’t have an Electric Vehicle. I simply answered “ shower” to the question on the form and now mainly shower in the evening. Including the daily 25p charge I’m averaging 13p kw per day using around 10 kw. Very satisfied.
    Thanks. I submitted the form with a couple of high use appliances and no mention of an EV or Battery so I guess I’ll wait and see what happens!
    Just to update on this, it appears I’m being switched over to Go Faster from Agile as I can now see on my account a message to say they are getting ready to move me over.
  • Success! That’s my tariff changed over to Go Faster 5H from 2030.

    I’m terms of being able to freely change to any available Octopus tariff, I can’t fault them as it’s usually completed within a couple of days!

    Tracker: Has anyone concerned with these things  picked up on the fact that despite all the claims of transparency the link between wholesale and retail unit prices appears to be highly elastic.  Both for current and for the mysterious forecast prices, gas and electric in various proportions. Is there an explanation?

    Elastic in what way. The price is based on a well documented fixed formula based on the next day wholesale price.
    As we've spoken about at length in the past, their forecasts are grossly inaccurate and not worth looking at.

    Emailed Octopus at 2.00pm today as I hadn’t received a statement since 13th June and have switched to Go then to Go Faster since then. Within an hour I received a response explaining they needed to manually retrieve some half hourly data and send the statement later. Again within an hour they emailed my statement.
              That’s what I call 1ST CLASS service. Well done Octopus!

    I am finding that a combination of emails and phoning seems to be as good as any.  I was also told that there had been some problem with retrieving half hourly data recently and that this was holding things up.Though I have yet to receive a statement. My tariff switches are very similar to yours.

    It comes to the same thing if my consumption is "recorded" and  totalised by my meter.  Otherwise by that logic I can take my brand new smart meter to the tip, do without it and accept that consumption comes from somewhere on high outwith my ken. Incidentally Octopus has today apologized and assured me that opening and closing readings will be included in my future bills.
    .
    "My latest Octopus statement and the one before that have no import smart meter readings. Even if they did, you cannot work out the cost of your usage as Octopus uses a single register for billing for Go which I believe is the tariff that you are on?

    Look at the graphic that I posted on page 298 and you have complete visibility of how much energy has been consumed. You will get 31/30/28 days worth of data sheets each billing month."

    ===

    I am on Go Faster and using the "Explore your Data Usage" link I can (and do) work out the cost of the energy consumed in various time periods. If the total kWh's and £££'s for the current one at the end of the billing period is not the same as indicated by my meter readings (too soon to say) then there is a system malfunction, but so far I have no reason to believe that this is the case.
