Pure speculation on my part. But I don't see why they can't use the data as it is now generated in real time. I have selected my preferred time-slot. Someone can enlighten us.0

For real time data above substitute half-hourly data if that's what they need.
Does someone blow a whistle / ring a bell when my meter is "fully" on line as opposed to being "partly" on line? Strange concept!Telegraph Sam
There are also unknown unknowns - the one's we don't know we don't know0 -
Like mwt says, the data is uploaded to octopus once a day. The breakdown is split into 30min segments. There is no need for octopus to have to check the data more often as you are only charged once a month. Real time data doesn't mean they need to know your usage every minute.0

I requested to switch to Go Faster but they gave me a link to a form to complete which is asking for what high consumption device I’ll be using (electric vehicle, battery etc).
The T&Cs require me to charge this high consumption device at least 50% of the time at home.
Not owning one of those devices I don’t think I’d meet the T&Cs for the Go Faster tariff. Are they becoming more strict perhaps on who they are moving to the tariff?

I moved to Go Faster a month ago and don’t have an Electric Vehicle. I simply answered “ shower” to the question on the form and now mainly shower in the evening. Including the daily 25p charge I’m averaging 13p kw per day using around 10 kw. Very satisfied.1

Does someone blow a whistle / ring a bell when my meter is "fully" on line as opposed to being "partly" on line? Strange concept!Just check your online account on the Octopus website once a day.The meter is fully online to the DCC, but that doesn't mean that Octopus can retrieve the half-hour readings yet as there are a few more steps they have to take remotely to make that happen.Once that is all done you'll see your half-hour usage for the previous day in your account, then they will be ready to move you to your new tariff. You'll reach the usage data from your 'Account' page where you'll see 'Explore my energy use' as a link in the electricity section.0 -
