That corresponds with my readings except that for this region presumably the daytime rate is 0.34 p cheaper

    "Octopus Go May 2021 v1

    gas offset
    smart
    fixed
    domestic
    Electricity
      Unit rate:14.99 p/kWh
      Standing charge:25 p/day
    Description
    Octopus Go May 2021 v1"

Most recent experience is that they are getting better at answering the phone at last.

Yes Go or Go Faster is even cheaper in your region. In my region Agile doesn’t fall below my peak rate ( 15.33p ) at anytime for the next 24hrs and Tracker continues over 18p. When or maybe if prices fall I’m free to move to either but at the same time my rates are fixed till 01/07/2022.

That being so then why do I read in All our Tariffs ...? Quote:

    Octopus Go Faster (4H from 0130) May 2021 v1

    gas offset
    smart
    fixed
    domestic
    Electricity
      Unit rate:14.99 p/kWh
      Standing charge:25 p/day
    Description
Octopus Go Faster (4H from 0130)"

I'm beginning to doubt my own sanity

    Still over-thinking this stuff...
Consider that each of the 'Go Faster' options is made up from 2 tariff components, one is the rate for the selected number of hours, say 5p for a 4 hour slot the other is the rate for the rest of the period, say 14.99p in your example.
They have built into the tariff structure the ability to price each start time and duration differently if they wish, but right now they have not actually made use of that so each start time/duration option is simply priced at a flat rate for the peak rate and a rate of 4.5/5/5.5 depending on duration.
With the tariff structure they have they could price 4H from 0130 differently to 4 hours from 20:30, but they do not do that at the moment.
If you are finding that confusing then just ignore it, you are going to be picking from the form link you've been sent anyway and that is as simple as it can get...

I suppose it doesn't help that they only list the peak unit rate on the tariffs page, but that is the only part of the tariff that varies by region.

I think that is getting nearer to the truth:
"They have built into the tariff structure the ability to price each start time and duration differently if they wish, but right now they have not actually made use of that so each start time/duration option is simply priced at a flat rate for the peak rate and a rate of 4.5/5/5.5 depending on duration." ... and start time.

    "

Except that for me at least that is precisely what they are doing in "All our Tariffs": 14.99 p and 5 p for the respective 4 hour time slots. As you conclude perhaps the "solution" is to ignore A-o-T's and  just hope that what I was sent in the crib sheet is correct and overriding. Taken in isolation it is simple enough.

I wonder sometimes if we all get basically the same A-o-T's allowing for minor regional variations.

And that against "Go" as opposed to "Go Faster" which got me confused at the outset!

Go is exactly the same as go faster. All it is is the 4hr version with a start time at 00.30. The prices are the same.

Like has been said before Sam, don't overcomplicate it. All you need to know is your peak unit rate is 14.99, then your cheap rate depends on whether you choose 3 4 or 5 hrs.
I'd advise you choose the 20.30 start time to ensure you make the most savings.

    Leave the rest to octopus.

If I had opted  for 4 H from 0130 H (I haven't) I would want to be pretty damn sure that the Octopus computer would disregard the A-o-T's when coming up with my bill.
It doesn't take a lot of imagination to visualize the various time slots being priced according to start time sometime in the future when market demand reveals which are the popular and which the less popular ones. Supply and demand

Go Faster has been the way it is now for over 2 years. The time slots haven't changed.

Thats not to say in the future they may not vary the prices depending on the times though I doubt its coming in a hurry.....I can only see them increasing prices in general as at the moment it is just so cheap compared to the competition if used correctly.

I think this confusion has been mainly due to them not clearly labelling the tariff on their tariff page (would be easier if they just included the leak and off peak prices in each box), and you overcomplicating and reading too much into it
