  • Cheers niktheguru, that's exactly what I was thinking. I'll do some research this evening to see what the cheapest is for our region, appreciate the recommendations.

Electricity wise, both our SMETS1 meters were updated recently so Octopus are receiving the data just fine. I think I'm going to take your advice in an earlier post and register for Go Faster and opt for 8:30pm as we don't have an electric car yet, but it's definitely on the cards at some point.

Tks Nick I think our interpretations are very much the same. I have asked to be switched to Go Faster with the 4 hours from 8.30 pm option.

Being about to step into the same boat myself I'd appreciate any relevant feedback on what you experience. I got the distinct impression that Octopus CS were not very well clued up on Go Faster in particular, which is more the responsibility of their Smart team.
I got sent the invite form giving the costs for the various options and timeslots. These all range from 4.5 - 5.5 p / kWh. Surprisingly quite a number of the same slots (not all) are priced under "All our Tariffs" @ 14.99 p. Either I have misunderstood the system or someone has slipped up.

They are all listed on the "All our Tariffs" page. It seems like you have misunderstood. There are two prices on all of the Go / Go Faster options. I refer you back to the previous page of this very thread, where you asked about the tariffs and received several detailed explanations: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/5462811/octopus-energy-reviews-give-your-feedback/p126

I have obviously misunderstood.  If I look at All our Tariffs under my postcode and select at random
    Octopus Go Faster (4  H from 0130) May 2021 v 1
    it states 14.99 p / kwh plus 25 p / day
On my invite this same slot is listed as 5 p / kwh
This is not an isolated example
    What am I missing???

Think you're overcomplicating it for yourself. The slot that is 5p is the 4 hours from 1.30am, the remainder of the time is 14.99.

That being so then why do I read in All our Tariffs ...? Quote:

    Octopus Go Faster (4H from 0130) May 2021 v1

    gas offset
    smart
    fixed
    domestic
    Electricity
      Unit rate:14.99 p/kWh
      Standing charge:25 p/day
    Description
Octopus Go Faster (4H from 0130)"

I'm beginning to doubt my own sanity

I’ve been very happy with Octopus throughout my switch to them, getting a smart meter quickly, then switching to go faster 5hours from 2030. I feel they have responded quickly on Twitter and email ( I’ve used both) and kept me informed exactly what’s happening.  I did follow the suggestions given on this forum even using Twitter for the first time. My online account shows that In my region it’s 25p standing charge,15.33p kw rate from 1:30am- 2030pm, and 5.5p kw rate from 2030pm - 1:30am.
