So what do you consider old?0 -

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton0 -

My dad was 89 when he was killed riding his push bike. He rode it everywhere.
He had also been registered disabled since he was a young man. He could not walk far without pain. That is why he rode his bike everywhere.
He'd have hated to have been written off in his 60s!(AKA HRH_MUngo)

So I called the Pension Service and lo and behold they said we cannot make a judgement on one piece of evidence and that you need to send in originals.
I bet if I speak to another person they will say something else. So I was told to go to the Job Centre and get an attested copy of her passport and a letter from her GP stating her dob and that she has been with the practice for 45 years!
So will have to book time off or can this be done in a dinner break? I would rather not send her passport and letter from the GP to the Pension Service.
So. Did you ask them why you were told previously that a copy of the passport would do and now they are requesting more proof?0 -
No as I have got the copies and sent them off. Asking them why I was told two different things wont make much difference now.
It might...
You may just have got the wrong person. Afaik you rang them and asked what evidence you needed to send - they told you You sent it off and, I am assuming, you rang up chasing and were told that you had to provide more
My first reaction would have been to say that I was told that was all that was necessary - that may have kicked them into action. While I get that they may not have dealt with this very well you do seem to be making the whole thing complicated too. Talking about getting a solicitor involved, not challenging their actions etc etc
Ring em again and ask why you were told something incorrect. I guess they may have a recording of your initial call to listen to0 -
I wonder if they said 'originals and not copies' as some processes do insist on original (as opposed to photocopies of) documents.0
