Thank you to Piggers for last week's thread :D

Do not lose heart if you cannot keep up with everyone else or reading the thread, don't try to reply to everyone and please remember to include something about flying in all your posts.

Welcome to the weekly Flylady thread. If you need help organising your week or getting motivated when it comes to housework then come and join us.

Every room comes back around next week so please don’t stress about catching up

These lists are only suggestions and not a must do list; you are more than welcome to post and follow your own lists.

Also adding a declutter mission each day will help to gradually clear the clutter and make flying easier.

A few of the basics before we start the week

Hotspots are areas where if one thing gets put there, loads of other things follow!

Daily routines are anything you need to do on a daily basis like washing, swish and swipe kitchen and bathroom, ironing, making beds, vacuuming high traffic areas, making meals etc.

Night-time routines are all things which make getting ready in the morning easier, preparing clothes for the next day, making lunches, swish & swipes of the kitchen and tidying the living room before you go to bed plus personals like shower/brush teeth etc.

Fling Boogie - stick on some loud music, grab a bin bag and whiz around the house finding items that can go out with the rubbish, recycling, for charity shop, basically anything that will stop it cluttering your home.

Swish and swipe/S&S means have a quick wipe over an area such as a sink or toilet to prevent the build up of dirt. This is usually done on a daily basis

HHE/HHC/HHI Half Hour exercise/challenge/ironing ... run around for 30 minutes to the Benny Hill music frantically cleaning exercising or ironing.. other music may be used if you prefer!
WM ~ Washing machine
TD ~ Tumble dryer
SC ~ Slowcooker
BM ~ Breadmaker
DW ~ Dishwasher
SOAADFA ~ Sit on 'bottom' and do 'nothing'
KH/XH/FW ~ Ex-husband and other not so polite versions
DH/DD/DS/DW/DP ~ Dear husband/daughter/son/wife/partner/whatever
OH/SO ~ Other half/significant other
NN ~ nice neighbour
Toxic (friend/mother/sister/whoever) ~ person in your life that seems to exist to make your life miserable
AF ~ Aunt Flo 'time of the month'.. nothing to do with flying but it comes up often.
ETA ~ Editted to add
gibble ~ miscellaneous crap that appears forever homeless
Dot-to-dot ~ pick a small area (not a whole room) like a chair/coffee/table/shelf/worktop or wherever- thats your first 'dot' - totally clear it - clean it - and only put back what should be there - deal with what you have removed (not just move it somewhere else) then if you have time move on and do the same to another 'dot' -the idea is just like a dot to dot puzzle, you aim to join up all the dots and have a tidy room. The trick is to keep each dot tidy until you get them all joined up!
RoD ~ Room of Doom, the one room that feels like it is a permanent pit and cannot be used to its potential!
Mr S/A/T/M/L/Al - supermarkets Sainsburys, Asda, Tesco, Morrisons, Lidl, Aldi. You get the picture!!

Evening all, here's the new thread for you all. Hope you enjoy it.. :D

Afraid I have done nothing much this week, intensive therapy getting harder and harder to do. Spent all day in bed this morning literally sleeping..poor D kept bringing up cups of tea and taking down cold ones.. I think I finally manage to rouse at 7pm for something to eat.. Still feeling absolutely !!!!! so am watching Robin Hood of Prince of Thieves on Channel +1. Getting all mushy over it..and trying desperately not to be too overwhelmed with the smell of dog sweat, due to my poor old boy Jet (he's a border collie) getting very hot indoors. Unfortunately it can't be helped due to the heat, even though we have the windows open wide it still doesn't seem to be working. Never mind hopefully it won't be too bad tomorrow, if it is I'll burn a smelly candle..lol

ty Natty.. kitchen is just what I'll need as I am painting it today and tomorrow and probably Tuesday too.. it WILL look nice!

I have the bathroom, middle room and hall/stairs/landing on the list too! I'm so fed up of the house looking shabby and not chic!

Washing and pots all up to date.
I was all lovely and dutiful and made OH a salad to nibble on for the next few days.

I need to refill the tray for hopefully the last time so having a rest first while OH is in the shower.. he is doing the edges when he comes down.. I cant reach them from a chair and the steps are covered in webs..

I need to get uniforms out and I think I am sorted for the evening after hat.. and cleaning the roller etc.

  • Evening all,

Katiecat, really sorry to hear your news, hope you and your family are bearing up xx

It's been such a beautiful day. I have got lots done too, mowed, weeded and tidied, washed and ironed, dog walked.

Did all the dailies this morning, house looking OK. By this evening, with the girls running in and out all day, playing about a hundred different things (not to mention burying eachother in the trailer full of builders sand we have at the front of the house, the place was absolutely trashed! So tidied it all again.

iona, course sounds like it will be interesting and challenging, good luck!

Natty hugs, and thanks very much for the list.

I'm in for this week, but tomorrow only dailies as have a full day at the paid stuff, then a meeting straight after that. Not sure when I'll eat!

Now off to have a little glass of beer, as MFP says I can xx

    Hugs to Katiecat and Natty

I'll be around scampering after my own tail; have 3 private assessments booked so I'm hoping uni won't want me to do any as well.

    Evening all

So sorry to hear about your loss Katie. Sending hugs to you and your Mum and condolences to all the family.

Thanks for this week's thread Natty and thanks for last week's Pigpen.

Well done getting accepted onto your course Iona and hope you enjoy it.

You obviously needed the sleep Natty so hope you now feel a bit better. Maybe you can get a bit of time relaxing in the sunshine this week and recharge your batteries a bit (hug)

I don't know how I'll get on this week as all my schedules are about to change. DH starts his new job and will be here in the mornings and need a good, protein filled breakfast. I am also going to have to cook something he can take with him to have for his dinner-break. There is a micro and toaster at his new-to-him depot but still have to get creative to make sure he eats properly all week :o Any ideas or sites would be useful to be able to make different meals that reheat successfully.
