I have always found Waitrose staff to be most helpful and agreeable. Yes, they are not the most intelectually gifted people in our fair country, but then they do work in a retail arena and are not employed to be so.

Personally, I find that staff in almost all of the shops I go in - and that includes the major supermarkets and the 'cheaper' alternatives - are helpful & agreeable.
But maybe that's because I don't have a massive chip on my shoulder.;)

I am often amazed at some of the stories i read on the internet. I know many of them are made up or significantly exaggerated but i still believe the attitude you receive is usually the same as the attitude you portray.

  • Don't know anyone who jogs in "jogging bottoms", much too warm and sweaty, a proper pair of running shorts/trousers which wick the moisture away from the body is the way to go (with a layer of good compression wear underneath).

A colleague did a half marathon on Sunday in jogging bottoms when it was sunny. He's still walking like he's just gotten off a horse due to the chaffing....

Obviously, one man's meat (artisan cheese) is another man's poison:
..... sometimes go into Waitrose for a nice bottle of wine or some artisan cheeses.
...... buying a load of arty-farty food like artisan cheeses and crap like that.

Torquay, has Sainsburys, Tescos, Co-op, ASDA, Morrisons, and Lidl so if this thread is not total BS why does the OP keep going there?

Its worth pointing out that the Tesco x 3, the co-op and the Morrisons are only metro style shops, having said that they are nearly as big as that Waitrose.

I dont like to argue with anyone if i can help it.

But it would be a very, very boring world if we did not. ;)

It would also make these forums pointless.:)

As for the staff, I think you are wrong.

Next time watch and see how they work and interact with customers.

Then compare them to staff in other supermarkets. You will notice a difference.

Right. So you've just proved my point then about waitrose shoppers being snobs. And, yes, I am poor. Does that mean I shouldn't be allowed in waitrose?

Absolutely. Scum like you ruin it for hard working middle class people like me.

Can I not shop for my Halloumi, Rye Ale, Quinoa and Fillet Steak in peace before picking up a copy of the Guardian and my free Cappuccino; without having to look at poor filth like you stinking up the place in your Adidas? Get back to Asda, peasant...

But I'll go to Tesco from now on, even though it's a lot further.

What will you do if one of their staff is rude and horrible to you?
