Why wouldnt I?
I know it's not that usual to think that way in a country that doesnt (on the whole) believe in reincarnation.
But...yep....I do.
I know that some believe in reincarnation but haven't come across the idea that we decide what to be reborn as. I thought the idea was that it depends on how you lived previouslyLost my soulmate so life is empty.
I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have -

Apparently some people assume you're a lesbian if you wear Birkenstocks too (so I've read!), but it doesn't stop me virtually living in them during the Summer months! I also love Docs too but haven't worn them for a while.
I have my Birks on as we speak. I put them on in late April and refuse to countenance wearing socks until at least October. I will admit the late snow the other week made it a bit of a challenge...0 -

I usually have mine on by now but got some sketchers go walks and have been wearing them (so comfy!), but yeah, same here, wear them right through till about October-ish. They don't half give you some weird tan lines though lol!0 -

I usually end up with half a tanned (well, as tanned as I being pale could possibly go!) foot!0 -

We do, however, get to choose the name and title we want to use.
If that means that some women prefer to be known as 'Miss', others as 'Mrs' and others as 'Ms', so be it.
If a man were to tell me that I should use a particular title, and avoid others, I would make him aware that it is my choice.
I would take exactly the same approach if a woman were to tell me that I should use a particular title.
If we have simply moved from a time when men told women what to do, to a time when women are telling other women what to do, we haven't moved very far at all.0 -
Why? Men don't change their title to show the world they are married.
Men don't have the chance to change their title to reflect that they are married because their isn't one available.
But let's say for example I'm Mr Takman but if I got married I would become Sir Takman. Then that does make getting married sound more appealing :rotfl:0 -
..and on the women often changing their title (and surname) on getting married front - the "How would I know who they were?" if they change things front.
I've been quoting off elsewhere what Brigit Strawbridge is doing these days - ie campaigning hard to save bees from extinction. Remember her from the Strawbridges in the TV series "It's not easy being green" a few years back?
She has some good personal news now - very happily announcing her engagement to someone else (as in - the Strawbridge marriage broke up a while ago). Pleased for her - and wondering how I'm going to know that "She is the Woman Who......" if she changes her surname on marriage. It would have helped a lot if she had just kept her own surname/title in the first place back when she married D*ck Strawbridge and then she would obviously still have this when she marries her 2nd husband and we would all know "who she is" easily. Credentials established that she has the knowledge/clout/etc to speak on green matters in just one little word so to say. No great lengthy explanation necessary in order to make that plain.
Men don't have this problem.......whatever D*ck Strawbridge does personally for the rest of his life - we will all still know "who he is" (oh...yes...that man who does all that "green" stuff etc).0 -

Surely if Brigit wants to change her name on second marriage and keep on campaigning then she can either use the name she is known by for campaign works and her new name for social matters or change them over. Wouldn't the focus be on the name and purpose of the campaign?
Or are you saying that if you see her being quoted in her new name - you'll think "Who?" and automatically dismiss them.I need to think of something new here...0 -

Of course there is. All men continue to use the title "Master" like little boys until they get married and become "Mr" - that's the tradition for women with Miss and Mrs.0
