I'm not getting into a debate again, just pointing out that the OP said the HC !!!!!! was shown in person ( ie no physical evidence ).
I'd rather you didn't categorise me, I don't do it to you.
The son can be questioned re what images were shown to him in person.
You are categorising yourself. And we return to 'Why do YOU allow him to have Facebook against it's T&C's ?'
That is not the issue, he has shown him images in person too. Whatever the medium, it is the source that is wrong.0 -
I am surprised, you keep saying APP - does a 12 year old need a smart phone?
Slightly off topic - but I would be providing a very basic phone at that age
My daughter is a teacher at a good grammar school, she does lessons where they use their smart phones, she says they normally have enough smart phones to have one between two. They use alot of online stuff and the older kids have laptops provided by the school. My grandson is starting at another local grammar school in September, the parents were told at the induction evening that i pads or i phones were useful to have in school.Sell £1500

Why would a phone be useful? I still don't understand.
An iPad, sure. But a phone?0 -

Really? You can't see the benefit of a pocket size phone to access the internet during lessons over having to carry an ipad around? You must have big pockets.
Children today are encouraged to research facts for themselves during lessons not blindly copy what the teacher writes on the board.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -

Well they link to the internet............ They don't all have ipads but DD says between smartphones and ipads they can usually work in twos. By year 9 or 10, can't remember exactly they have school provided laptops which they use in lessons and for homework.peachyprice wrote: »Really? Surely an Ipod touch (which is cheaper) would be better?0 -

Not if it's the parent's old phone or needs mobile access rather than just wifi. Maybe the parents want them to have a phone too if they're travelling far to school alone, why carry two items when one will do the same job?

I suppose the idea of a 12 year old with an iphone is suprising that's all.
I mean it's
1: high value and certainly makes the child a target
2: just seems excessive.
3: not something people agree with clearly, but as has been raised, it leaves them more open to online dangers0
