The financial implications of moving in together

Is she £0 better off, I'd say splitting the bills would certainly put her in the black. This works the same for both of them - instead of him paying a single set of utility bills and her paying a single set of utility bills, they'll both be splitting a joint set of utility bills. As such it will (probably) affect their finances in a similar way. We can call it '£x each better off' if you like.
Are other expenses calculated? I can't speak for the other poster, but that would seem to be the sensible way to do it Landlord insurance? What about a sinking fund? How about void periods? Eviction costs? Maintenance costs? - or do you think being a LL is free money? Of course landlords can incur expenses - there's no need to be so confrontational. My post referred to how much 'better off' each party would be as a result of him moving in - that implies after costs
"or do you think being a LL is free money?" I don't know if it's your intention or just your writing style, but you often come across as very rude on here.Mortgage when started: £330,995

Or perhaps it's your interpretation?
Either way I was simply highlighting that being a LL rarely shows a profit in the way it may at first appear.
Does the OP accept a share of the responsibility of the LL?
Need a new roof, she pays half? get sued by the tenant, pays half? etc etc.0 -

Given your job, I think you know exactly how you come across.
The last two questions are actually good points, and Narla should discuss with her OH.Mortgage when started: £330,995

One of the benefits of working in communications - It's not my fault that you interpret my to the point nature as rude.
If you choose to be offended by it, then that's your decision.
I'm not trying to be rude or offensive if that's what you mean.0 -

I don't mind to-the-point dialogue. And I wasn't offended by you.
But you were condescending to Narla, and sarcastic to me. You frequently come across as rude in other threads.
Part of communications work (and I'm sure you'll correct me if I'm wrong) is correctly conveying the tone of your message. Which is why I suggest that you know full well how you come across on here, and that you choose to portray yourself in that way. Which is, of course, your right.

Aww, I was just going to PM you to avoid derailing the thread any further, and then you completely undermine my argument by posting a nice reply. Touche indeed :beer:Mortgage when started: £330,995

I have a dual role: Comms and Engagement
I'm glad we engaged in a meaningful discussion, and achieved a positive outcome.
To be honest my posts weren't always short and to the point, but often were against the grain and therefore attracted additional scrutiny and attention.
Often blamed on an 'agenda', but the reality is we all post our opinions - formed over a lifetime, with unique and individual experiences and rationale. - This has meant that often a heated debate would result and to be honest I found myself disillusioned with parts of the forum.
I appreciate that there can be factual inaccuracies in anything that I (or anyone else) writes. But opinions shouldn't be classed as 'right or wrong'.
The saying: I don't agree with what you say, but I'll defend your right to say it - often springs to mind.
Anyway, cheers for the positive discourse.0 -

Thank you for pointing out some of the issues that may occur in the future and I will certainly discuss these possibilities with my OH.

PS That was an amusing discussion between you both. I had to go out before I had chance to reply the post which was very condescending. In my opinion Guest101 you have portrayed yourself as condescending, rude, arrogant and sarcastic - and this is my first encounter with you! Nevertheless I can see another side to you after your dialogue with LannieDuck. Thank you both for your replies0 -
