When I was recently in Tesco the last markdown was 75% off. I am ok with that, at least it's better than full price. I'm due a visit sometime this week.

If you put the tele on you will see me yellow sticker shopping on Rip off Britain on Friday morning.

Well that was a more positive view of YS shopping than the newspaper interviews.
Well done as always on your YS items. x
Why pay full price when you may get it YS ;)

When I get asked by my kids for a stamp, I give them the ones I've cut off of envelopes that haven't been franked. If you put them over a boiling kettle spout, you can get them off if you are careful, quick dab of glue, there you go! My kids hate doing it, think I'm tight and prefer to use a new one, so they usually go and buy one. Everyone's a winner!

What would you say if I told you I got great discounts on my shopping by stealing? This is a disgrace.

Or I got great discounts from my shopping by using a receipt someone else left in the basket?

On the occasions i drink tea i can easily make two drinks out of one tea bag because i like my tea really weak. No builders tea for me.

Oh and on occasions ive been known to reuse cooking foil.:o

I've re-used cooking foil, but not on food usually, just to line the grill pan.
I have re-used an unfranked stamp in the past, not proud of that, but it was an emergency must-catch-the-post situation, and there wasn't time to buy some.
It probably balances out with all the stuff that's been lost in the post over the years.

I pick up the elastic bands dropped by posties. One is currently holding my trike mudguard clear of the tyre as the mudguard bracket has snapped. This is less embarrassing than it was when the bands were bright red and clearly ex Royal Mail.

I use all sorts of unwanted body and face creams to condition leather shoes, belts and bags. Very little hits the bin.

Non bona-fide charity bags are re-used as bin bags.

I ignore use by dates unless they are really well past the time, though anything like cold meat only gets an extra 24 hours, just in case. Remember that they weren't around when many of us were kids and we are all still here.

I use laundry gloop periodically, and also a ceramic beads washing ball without detergent for lightly soiled items.

I use Stardrops, rather than specialist wool detergent, in the washing machine.

Babywipes mean that if I spill something on an item of clothing, I can usually continue to wear it.

Thank you very much for the link.
I've just watched this Ilona, I thought you came across brilliantly, your voice is very upbeat, so it didn't matter that you didn't give a beaming grin.

For anyone else wanting to find Ilona's star turn quickly, the actual shopping haul section starts at around 33 minutes.

My Mr T's never seems to have much in, generally, but I do save a lot by shopping at Heron, who buy in short-coded/overstocks/end of lines. Their reductions often equate to what you would pay for YS items in the big 4 stores. It's amazing what you can freeze, isn't it?!

I'd love to know the size of Ilona's family as I noticed many of the reduced price items she bought were unsuitable for freezing. So, either she's got plenty of mouths to feed every day or she was just being greedy by grabbing anything and everything purely because it was reduced, regardless of need, instead of just taking what she needed and leaving the rest for someone else to benefit from.
