I did not realise that you lovely people would still be replying to my writing. I do apologise as very tardy of me not to reply sooner.
I did not realise people did not wear undergarments when they ventured out of the house, I am learning every day how others live. Most intriguing.0 -

Waitrose is a terrible employer, virtual minimum wage slave driver where they all try to boss each other about to get a leg up in authority, too many chiefs and not enough Indians, too much fussing about facing up and stock checking (I never worked there but my partner did, I used to work at curry's, which was for the most part better than that, still min wage though)This is a system account and does not represent a real person. I like to visit my local Waitrose to buy oven chips, crisps and own-brand baked beans. When I'm at the checkout, the assistant asks me if I want to buy a carrier bag, and that's when I produce my Lidl bag-for-life with a flourish!
I them claim my free tea (not poncy coffee) and make sure that I accidentally pocket loads of those little packs of sugar while I'm at it. And a few tea bags if no-one's looking.
Waitrose can be a little more expensive but I haven't had to buy sugar or tea bags for the past 3 months, so I guess it all evens out in the end.:D

Shopped many times in Waitrose and the staff seem happy and chatty I've come across, some decent perks for working there.0 -
The Waitrose near my work also has the cups with the staff on the checkouts. Footfall is huge (there's are 000's of workers around), and it's within sight of a starbucks and costa etc so very tempting for everybody at lunch. There's always queues. I thought the staff giving out the cups was normal.
I've only just got round to getting a MyWaitrose card. I rarely shop there but there is one near work and I might get the odd emergency thing on the way home. The cups are behind the tills so you have to ask for one (or pick one up from the self-service area while waving your card). It has struck me that if I held on to the cup, I could just go straight to the coffee queue next time.
It does seem to be working there. If I look in at 8.30 on the way to work - there are plenty of people buying a muffin or a pastry and then grabbing their coffee. At lunchtime, the queue is so long that I've never wanted a free coffee desperately enough to wait. So if these people are buying their breakfast/lunch there instead of the Sainsbury Local and Tesco Metro 150 yards away; then JLP are getting the benefit.I need to think of something new here...0 -
Again, I must apologise for my tardy reply. I will try much harder next time.
Thank you again, you lovely people for your most informative replies.
I now know what 'to go commando' means, I will have to watch my havasac as there are thieves in Waitrose, and that Waitrose is a slave employer. I always thought of slaves from yesteryear, did not realise that they are still alive, well, and working on my local high street. Oh the thought.0
