These people clearly have no class.
I enter Waitrose with a Fortnum & Mason hamper in my troll-ey , filled with my own provisions , and have an impromptu coffee from a tartan flask, a deux , with the picnic rug on the floor. So much more civilised.0 -
I like this guy! Terrifically entertaining old chap. The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt.Bertrand Russell0

You sound like my Sister.
She will shop in Aldi only when using her Waitrose carrier bags.
Having a prestigious job, she does not want anyone to know she has been there.
Common sense tells her that there are bargains to be had in Aldi.0 -
Just in case there's any reality in this...
My local supermarket is the second busiest Waitrose in the country, in the centre of a highly visited city. They had a lot of coffee tourists, so now you have to ring it through the till With a MyWaitrose Card in order to get a cup.0 -
I am glad to hear that some of you jolly fellows hear my fears. I am not sure about this Aldi, as I have never been. I have passed these Aldi's and am not sure about visiting as I would be fearful that someone would see me going in. How would I explain this at my next social gathering. I am sure Aldi is fine for others, and thanks for the suggestion.0

OP - I totally understand where you're coming from. I'm lucky enough that the surrounding five miles or so from our waitrose has nothing but private estates and the occasional farmhouse so it's free from council house dwellers and flat owners...
I only need to go to an Asda or *shudder* and aldi or lidl to see the gulf in class between those who shop in waitrose and those who don't.
All this free coffee business does is encourage the proletariat.0 -
I'm thinking there should be a 'priority' coffee machine for people that have actually bought something. That could offer the full range of drinks, and I would respectfully suggest that hot chocolate and mocha should be added. One of those pots of vanilla sugar would be good too. Organic milk as well for good measure.
The 'economy' machine for the rest of the !!!!!!!!!!s could be supplied by maxpax... and should only be restocked once a week.
How does that sound :-)
Edit: wow, apparently fr@@loader is offensive by MSE standards. Learn something new every day...0
