  • HI all
Just completed the switch from BG to Iresta based on a) big potential savings (£400 a year) b) no fee to switch so if I'm not happy in due course I will just move then and c) think its good to give start ups a chance and put pressure on big 6,
So am giving Iresta a go!
Will let you know of any major positives or negatives as things progress......
So you have just started the switch process or the switch has just been finished & you are totally with Iresa now?
  • Just went to the IRESA website to switch & I got "We are currently updating our prices. Please visit our website tomorrow to view our new prices."

It's not going to go down in price is it!!
  • An update....Iresa have just released their Flex3 dual-fuel 12 month fixed plan (from the Flex2)
It's very slightly more expensive, but only slightly with no exit fees still, so I've taken the plunge & signed up today.

Interestingly, they've removed themselves from all the comparison sites (as I did a new comparison with several of them before I made my decision)

A quick update, I signed up on Friday the 4th and received an email straight away. The direct debit was lodged with the bank a few days after that. This morning I have received a welcome email advising me that the transfer will be completed in about 16 days and also another email telling us that the first direct debit will be paid about the 23rd.

    So far so good.
  • Stay away from IRESA is my advice
Have had a terrible time with IRESA and couldn't recommend them. I decided to cancel my application for dual fuel with them in plenty of time for them to respond within my 14 day cooling off period and heard nothing from IRESA on this, and other emails that I sent them in the early stages of my account being established, It wasn't until day 15 that I got an automated email telling me that my application was progressing; something that I really didn't want to happen given the very poor service I had received from the company, and their failure to communicate. Trying to get hold of anyone at IRESA is a real task with long queues on their help line number; at one point I was fifteenth in a queue, which didn't appear to get any shorter in the twenty minutes I stayed waiting on the phone. I did, however, eventually get hold of someone who was unhelpful and dismissive, offering very little explanation as to why my request for a cancellation had been ignored and, who was very reluctant to just sort this issue out without a lot of unnecessary arguing and persuasion from me.
I wonder if this is another example of a small, start-up company offering low cost energy deals and then being overwhelmed by the number of customers who sign up and then find it impossible to deal with the number of queries? I would certainly steer well clear of them as the level of customer support in this instance has been dreadful and, although cancelling the application has been an unpleasant exercise, I am glad I did as I would not be confident in their ability to manage my account properly.
  • Effortless efficient switch with large savings - I encountered no problems at all - would recommend them so far.:)
  • How interesting andyjb49. The incompetence of IRESA continues, in my experience. Having had written and verbal confirmation that they had cancelled my contract, I received another automated email from then today informing me that they are preparing my contract and that I will soon need to provide them with a meter reading! Incredible and frustrating. I have also written a letter of complaint, requesting a response and have not heard anything from them.
I'm glad that your switch has progressed well, I only hope you don't have to actually deal with their so called customer support centre.

My switching has gone well, I have received regular emails and I gave my meter readings yesterday. Like andyjb49 I have encountered no problems.

How did you cancel your application and how long after asking them to supply you did you cancel?
  • Norman Castle, I cancelled 7 days into my 14 day cooling off period, so plenty of time for IRESA to act. My reason for cancelling was I discovered (a little to late) a long list of complaints about them that have been posted on this, and other sites.
I firstly tried the method outlined in IRESA's confirmatory email that suggests there is a link to a web page where a customer can send a cancellation; this only takes you to a log in page where you are asked to enter your account and password details, neither of which I had been given. My second attempt was to try and call, and was unable to get through due to the high call waiting time and queue - I waited for ver twenty minutes, which I think is an unacceptable length of time. I resorted to an email, which was received, but ignored at the time. When I finally managed to speak to someone at day 15, they spoke to me consistently as if it was my fault that they hadn't acted on my instructions.
I'm glad others have had success in setting up their accounts, but as I have already said, IRESA have pretty much ignored everything I have sent them, including my request for cancellation, and a letter of complaint, which I think is rude and shows a real lack of customer care. They are probably fine if you have no issues along the way, but woe betide anyone having to resolve an issue with them.
