Haha, I keep buying 'treats' that I don't like for him and Top Boy. Cunning.

I love frylighted mushrooms, peppers and onions or a big mixed salad, I'm like you, green beans bore me!

One from the magazine, it's lovely, not as spicy as a normal vindaloo but it has a decent kick, to me, it doesn't taste SW, I can pop the recipe up later on if you like?

The recipe is lamb vindaloo which was lush, but I enjoyed it with beef too.

    Syn free, serves 4.

Time: Minimum 4 hours marinading, 1 hour 40 minutes cooking time.

    125ml white wine vinegar
    1 onion, finely chopped
    2 tsp ground cumin
2 tsp black mustard seeds, crushed
8 garlic cloves, crushed (I use 3-4 tsp of lazy garlic)
2 cm piece of fresh root ginger, finely grated (I use lazy ginger, a pattern is emerging here :D)
    1 tbsp hot chilli powder
    1/2 tsp ground cloves
    1 tsp ground cinnamon
500g lean lamb leg steaks, all visible fat removed, cut into bite sized chunks
    400g can chopped tomatoes
    1/4 tsp sweetener
salt and freshly ground black pepper
    Basmati rice, to serve
    Chopped fresh coriander, to garnish
Deseeded and chopped red chilli, to garnish
    Lime wedges, to serve
    Steamed green beans, to serve

    1) Put the vinegar in a large bowl with the onion, cumin, mustard seeds, garlic, ginger, chilli powder, cloves and cinnamon and add a little water then mix to form a paste. Add the lamb, stir to coat evenly and cover and chill for 4 hours, or overnight if you can.

    2) Put 200ml water in a large pan over a high heat (I only use 100ml as I find it a bit watery otherwise). Add the lamb mixture, tomatoes and sweetener and bring to the boil. Reduce the heat, season well, cover tightly and simmer for 1 hour 30 minutes, or until the lamb is tender.

    3) Divide the lamb and rice between 4 bowls. Garnish with coriander and chilli and serve with lamb wedges and green beans on the side.

    Evening all

Pretty good day today, the site has been busier this week anyway as we had a club rally and we've had lots of arrivals today and lots more expected tomorrow. More chip temptation tomorrow as we'll be doing fish and chips - we will have our main meal during the day as we are open late on chip night and it will be less tempting to resort to a chippy meal when we close.

    Today's menu:

B: an orange (I wasn't hungry first thing)
L: butternut squash and red pepper soup, ham sandwich (HEB)
D: Taco jackets with salsa (onion, tomato, chilli), salad (lettuce, cucumber, avocado) and natural yogurt

    Tomorrow's menu:

B: don't know yet, maybe fruit and yogurt
D: gammon steak, actifry chips, egg, salad
T: butternut squash soup, roll or sandwich (HEB)

I seem to have lost my appetite for breakfast - my stomach used to be my alarm clock, rumbling loudly in the early hours of the morning, but not anymore, I usually eat something but don't start to feel hungry until about 10.30.

I love green beans, but I have to say the quality of them in England leaves a lot to be desired, Spanish beans are fatter, longer and have much more flavour.

Thanks for the tip re pulled pork Meg and thanks for the vindaloo recipe Top girl.

    Back tomorrow,

    LL :)

I'm in Leeds visiting my friend. Had SW omelette for breakfast (bacon, tomatoes and cheese HeA). Left at midday ish and arrived about 4pm (heavy traffic on m6 and iPhone not very good at directing me to her flat) and then went out for dinner about 7 so naughty me had no lunch. Went to an Italian restaurant and I had a spinach side salad with pine nuts (heb) and a dressing (syns) and a seafood spaghetti in a tomato based sauce (some syns for oil). Didn't have dessert there. Popped to @ldi so I could have SW breakfast tomorrow and to get stuff for a healthy SW tea tomorrow night and bought a little chocolate and vanilla twist pot (10syns) for a pud. So prob about 15-20 syns today which I'm happy with.
Going to parkrun near her house in the morning and then going to the food festival so tomorrow will be off plan but damage limitation with breakfast and dinner. I think I'm doing well and making good choices but not restricting myself so much that I'm not going to enjoy the weekend.
Hoping I don't gain at WI on Monday but I'm not gong to freak (too much) if I gain 1lb. 2lb would disappoint me though.
