    It was one of those keycards where you put in the slot to operate the electrics.

    Ah I see, so you'd have been stuck in the dark :( . I'd have thought the hotel would have provided two keys for each shared room, given the circumstances. Wonder why they didn't. We usually get two automatically, but I suppose it depends which hotel group you were using.

    You can use any card to activate the electric in these hotels, I usually use my ikea family card as I won't be lost if I left it behind.

    Reason why most people use the room keycard in the slot is they know where it is.

    How many of us have gone through everything and everywhere to find the key?
