perhaps we should name and shame the firms that ask you to share rooms. I don't remember that part in the t&cs when i joined.0

cant you say your a heavy snorer and you talk loud in your sleep.. and tell them u have separate bedrooms at home .
if that doesn't work, on the first night snore your head off and shout in your sleep teurrerts (spell?) style“Life isn't about finding yourself. Life is about creating yourself.”

One of the male reps was openly gay, and he always got a room to himself!
I wouldn't share now though, only with my husband, or maybe my sister at a push.
It wouldn't bother me but then I sometimes stay at youth hostels.:)0 -

I have shared a room with a colleague when I was a former employer. Everyone hated it. There were about 20 of us. It was for 2 nights.
The problem was we were issued one key per room. As I was 24 at the time and I go to bed and wake up earlier than the typical person of a similar age.
I retired to my room at 10:40pm and in bed by 11pm. My co-worker stayed up til 12:45am in the hotel bar before going to the room. As I had the key, she had to knock on the door, wake me up and go open the door. She didn't go straight to bed but put the TV for an hour insisting the light must be on.
None of us got decent sleep due to snorers, my situation etc. The employer saw how this affected us.
Ten months later, we were given out own rooms when we needed to help out new starters at a new call centre opened. We were down there for a week, went home over the BH weekend and back down for another week. Different town, same hotel chain.
If we had to share a room then, there would been a few murders!
OP bring up the subject that each of you has a different waking up/going to bed rituals. I like to wake up early, have a coffee in bed then have a shower, then breakfast downstairs. Some wake up, shower and be down for breakfast in 10 mins. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

With hindsight, it would have made sense if she had accompanied you to the shared room, let you in and then hung on to the key.
I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe

It was one of those keycards where you put in the slot to operate the electrics. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
