Sharing hotel room with co-worker

How do your colleagues feel about this? If you're all unhappy then surely you can go, as a group, and request a rethink?
Well, I would say that probably:
* 40% don't have an issue sharing a room, getting drunk each night and coming back in their room at 2am. They will actually enjoy the week, and probably won't notice if someone else is in the room
* 40% don't really like the idea of sharing, but will accept it once in a while
* 10% don't like the idea of sharing at all, but will end up pay for their own room, for some privacy (instead of creating some fuss)
* 10% are like me, don't like the idea of sharing at all, nor to have to pay to attend some work training, and will do whatever they can to not go at all0 -
Is that your assumption or have you actually raised the issue.
.
If not, then I suggest you actually ask, but start off by saying how you, personally are uncomfortable with the idea. It is, after all, an invasion of your personal space. Because then other colleagues may feel they to can be honest about how they feel.

I wouldn't care or give out or have a rant TBH. It is what it is, and if you want your privacy well then you will have to pay for your own single occupancy room.
...
I would object, and demand payment for some of the charge for staying on my own.
Make up your mind!loose does not rhyme with choose but lose does and is the word you meant to write.0 -
Sounds a bit of a two-bob company if they can't afford to give an employee they are sending on an out of office visit (be it for training or any other purpose) their own individual accommodation.
I have worked for companies in Finance, Healthcare and Housing of sizes varying from medium to huge multinationals and not one of them has ever imposed shared accommodation. Every one has been double room for single occupancy with an allowance of £25-£35 per night for an evening meal.
Seems damn strange to me. My girlfriend works within the same company that I am currently working for and we had to both visit another site - we offered to happily take a single room to save money but the company insisted we had two because it would be frowned upon if it came up in the audit.
To me, that's equally strange but I'd rather that than the other side of the coin and having to share with Billy from Network or whatever!0 -
We used to have to share beds with colleagues on compulsory business trips, nevermind just rooms!0

I'd be more than happy to share if the co worker was the opposite sex and attractive to,

It seems to be a cost cutting exercise really and getting to change this policy may prove rather difficult so you may haver to suck it up or pay for your own room.0 -
It is pretty standard in cheapskate companiesChanging the world, one sarcastic comment at a time.0

i must work for a cheapskate company, but hey-ho - wouldn't work anywhere else though
never had an issues and worked for very large multi-nationals that have done this at times. The futures bright the future is Ginger0 -
I have only been asked to share once and that was a cheap company, I only found out at reception, I checked out and paid for my own room in another hotel and resigned a week later.0

I would either book a room and pay out of my own money or I would buy a pair of pyjamas that cover you up well and make sure I got changed in the bathroom with the door locked.0
