it would be helpful if this thread was somewhere folk in this situation could get impartial advice.
In your situation, you could have received the same level of service by asking the Financial Ombudsman to assist you. You could also have gone to the Citizen's Advice Bureau....0 -
Do you realise how awfully smug you sound? Any of that type of admin is extremely difficult for me - it took me 9 years to find a new gp - same reason. Everything is done by phone interview, I've not had to write anything out or do any work at all
You do realise that you could have done exactly the same with each lender. All of them are required to take information over the phone to aid you with your complaint. That would not have cost you anything.I'm happy to pay for the accountant that other people tell me I don't need to employ.
An accountant is a professional who provides a professional service in return for payment. Very different to a CMC.o it would be helpful if this thread was somewhere folk in this situation could get impartial advice.
Impartial advice is to not use a CMC as there are free-of-charge alternatives. Even for those that need support.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0 -
This thread will never be a venue of free advertising for Claims Management firms.0

You could have phoned any lender and complained. You could have gone to the wensite of any lender and complained.
You can write a list of lenders with phone/website on it, and ticked them off as you went.
There's not much admin to do to complain. You spent more time doing admin for a claims company than you would have had to do yourself.
Also understand that no one who posts regularly on this board will ever recommend any claims company, because we know that they use the same complaints procedure you would for free, they have no special powers to investigate anything at all. That's not ableist and nasty, that's mse
You were well enough to have a phone interview with a claims comany, you could have phoned any of your creditors and made a complaint there and then.
As I said before, if you think a stamp is worth 24%, then employ a company to do it.In your case, obviously you did.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0 -
its so important for some of you to be right isn't it? Showing off with all of the stars next to your names. Stop it with your pointless countering and arguing. You are not helping.
Please don't mansplain to me about what it's like living with severe adhd, you have absolutely no idea.
As said I used the tool on the Which website and got nowhere - no results, lost the paperwork, lost the letters I was sent therefore forgot to challenge them back. I need reminders. I need people to remind me what to do next.
The claims firm I'm using (note I am not advertising them, just using my experience) text me reminders, send me forms, ring me to remind me - it's taken me 9 days to sign the most recent set of letters and send them back but thanks to them I have done it as they have kept reminding me. This is what I need otherwise I'd get nowhere. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
its so important for some of you to be right isn't it?
if the alternative is to give out duff/wrong information or do things wrong then yes it is important.
People do not come to this website to be given wrong information. Please don't mansplain to me about what it's like living with severe adhd, you have absolutely no idea.
How do you know the gender of the posters? Playing the feminism card that way does nothing to help the rights of women.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). That's because we usually are. No one asks questions because they know what they're doing otherwise they wouldn't ask here.
What we do have to contend with usually is people believing claims company lies, or advertising, so they ask, what is the best one, they believe claims compnies when they say PPI is hidden in interest, they believe companies have special powers, they believe these companies are trusthworthy, that they would't lie about how much someone is 'due a refund', or that they only have to 'claim' a refund.
Claims companies spin such a web of lies and half-truths that most of the time the people who would like ot use them don't like having their errors pointed out to them, or would rather believe advertising.
And no one mansplained ADHD to you, I womansplained how to write a list.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0 -
With all due respect if you have previously tried to claim and got nowhere then you are unable to simply have another go via a CMC... are they aware of this as most have a fee for their work on cases which you have already had a unsuccessful claim as it will be likely fruitless.
The advice is, was and will remain that CMCs do nothing you can’t do just as easily regardless of your circumstances - they will charge you a hefty fee for this plus their scattergun approach to complaint points actually weakens your case.
As you have already decided to do this I do not really see what the point of your post was?!0 -
I think both men and women can mansplain I don't think it's exclusive to any gender. <shrugs>
If it was so easy for me to do what you say. I would have done it years ago. It's why I got nowhere trying to do it on my own. Write list, lose list, forget that the list existed. Finally get a letter back, feel so disheartened that I have to challenge it, zone out reading the website trying to get the info to sink in, forget that I'm supposed to write back. I cannot control this, prioritising is difficult, it's why i'm getting upset on here rather than completing my work which I know is more important but here we are...
I'm pretty well aware of what these firms do, I agree with you and I know they are in it for the money, I know they are ambulance chasers - I might have a brain condition, but I'm not dumb, but for me, way better than getting nowhere. And I'm finally getting somewhere - five lots of PPI found and waiting on several more.
Someone who does the work, the reminding, the calling, calls me rather than expecting me to call them, it's exactly how I've asked people at work to work with me, its one of the 'reasonable adjustments,' you can expect to have. It's how my accountant knows he has to keep calling and texting, it's the same and it works for me very well. I've heard not all of these 'ambulance chasers' work in this way and that some require more labour than others but the question is which? Its not apparent.
Anyway, back to work, I hope I've made some sort of point about hidden disabilities. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
