It might seem obvious that he has huskies but I still don't understand what sort of work his actually do.

Then maybe try looking it up to gain some understanding? There was a whole programme about on tv recently (don't ask me what it's called -Google is your friend).

Someone earlier asked why was I defending him. Ok, I don't know the guy other than posts he's made here, but I do know first hand what's involved in running a team of huskies, and it's damned hard work and the dogs get plenty of daily exercise so being crated is no issue at all. It's standard practise.

It's the people who own huskies/malamutes/inuit dogs purely as pets with no outlet for all that pent up energy, you should directing your anger at! They're the ones who end up in rescue or PTS due to pent up aggression.

And, as someone pointed out earlier, keeping huskies outdoors is absolutely fine. Keeping them them indoors with central heating on is actually cruel.

Thanks for posting these. Just goes to back up what I said a few minutes earlier :T

ETA: hope I didn't speak out of turn about your dogs but felt as though I needed to defend their corner against the righteous brigade lol

    How and why?

I don't like toy dogs, is that a crime? But, they've been overbred to the point they have extensive health issues.

I know some GSDs have a bad name too thanks to Crufts and breeders producing deformed dogs. I abhor that too.

So you don't like toy dogs, but there is no need to be so vile about them! Calling them a repugnant excuse for a dog! How nasty!

I am not a fan of rottweillers and pitbulls, and I don't think they should be allowed in residential domestic properties at ALL, but I wouldn't be so nasty about them publicly. Even though I have strong opinions about them AND the type of people who usually have them.

And as for slating toy dog owners, don't even get me started on the 'dangerous dog' owners, lopping tails, lopping ears, making them fight one another, teaching them to be aggressive!

THIS kind of behaviour is not unusual!

    http://www.mirror.co.uk/tv/tv-news/dangerous-dog-owners-proud-watch-3990843

You ask 1000 people in the street, whether they would want to live next to a family with 3 toy dogs, or a family with 2 pitbulls and a rotweiller; I know EXACTLY what the answer would be! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

And please do stop accusing people who disagree with you and husky runner of needing to be educated. All that is doing is showing that you're losing the argument!

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see that keeping 5 huge dogs in 3 crates half their life is not a good idea! Especially as they flippin' well broke out, and trashed the house, (as your friend Husky runner told us earlier!)

For goodness sake! They are obviously NOT meant to be holed up like this!

No, of course they shouldn't. But I don't see any evidence either from this thread or other conversations I've had with this poster concerning his dogs that he actually does this. So why are you attacking him in such an aggressive and unsubstantiated manner?

Oh at last, somebody with some common sense to know that many dog breeds simply cannot be kept as handbag accessories and toys to dress up :rotfl:

I suspect some of the people posting here own chihuahuas and pugs and other equally repugnant excuses for a dog ;)

ETA: prove me wrong and post a pic of your dog(s) :D

I have an excuse for a dog, not a pug or a chihuahua, but a small terrier.
I do not dress her up or put her in my handbag.

She has a dogs personality, does most things any dog does.
Is there some kind of dog ranking/pecking order I need to be aware of?

I actually choose the breed I did as that was what would most fit my lifestyle.

Should I have chosen a more macho dog?

It is re temps, leave a husky indoors when its 25 degrees outside and higher indoors and thats cruelty which is why our guys have a large dog run.

Hey, I totally agree with you and can fully understand why you're bowing out of this particular conversation. And I don't blame you. The MSE clan can be a vicious beast if you find yourself on the wrong side of it. Trust me, I know.

Some breeds have been bred so that they have more heath problems - those go down my pecking order.

Those who haven't seen these pictures of dogs a century ago may find them interesting.

I didn't realise pugs or chihuahuas fell into the the terrier category. But, if you choose to feel offended by my comments then feel free.

Oddly enough, some of my GSD's best play buddies are JRT and Border Terriers, amongst others. I don't believe I ever commented on the terrier group of dogs? ETA: apart from to say I'm glad I've never owned one, nor have any immediate plans to, as cute they can be :rotfl:
