Hi Guys, well my mum went through her menopause at 40!!!!! so i am worried that time may already have run out for me as i am 33 this month. I also know that this is all very silly and i should just let nature take its course, but as we all know stressing and symptom spotting seem to be the order of the day for a lot of us.
My mother did say that both my grandmothers had my mother and my father at 40, so there may be some time left!
Oh well baby dust with some sticky glue in there for octoberLeopardlady
Got married on the 26th April 08!!!!!!!:j:T

I guess for me I feel a bit old as by the time my mum was my age her youngest was 4. My mum also had a really easy time with all of her pregnancies, except her 2nd which was an early mc. But she never put on excess weight, describes labour as uncomfortable and then push, push, baby. Had all of us sleeping 7 hours through the night from 3 days old. And really can't understand why anyone has trouble breast-feeding.
I suspect that part of the reason she had such an easy time, physically is because of her age. We are better suited to pregnancy and labour in our early 20's. So I think for me my fears are less, that my eggs are getting bad and more that my body is past it's best and physical impact having a baby will have on me.
That said, my mum had complacations in her first two labours due to bad healthcare, and at least I'm bolshy enough not to put up with some of the crap that she did.;) And I'm less likely to be patronised by arrogant mid-wives who think I'm a stupid child, like my mum was when she had me.0 -
hi ladies,
just a quick update from me...
started out BD'ing at the weekend so fingers crossed! on the other hand, i feel sick, headachy and have the metalic taste in my mouth already. im getting a tad concerned i got preg on the pill anyways! did a boots HPT and whilst it looked like a negative, if u tilted the stick the other way, it looked like a feint positive so im off to do a digital 1 after work. think its probably just coming off the pill playing havoc with my hormones but im going to check it out anyways.
congrats to all the BFP's :T and good luck and lots of baby dust to those who werent as lucky this month. hope everyone is keeping well! xxx:j TTC from September 08 / BFP November 08 / EDD 22nd July 09 :jOH's debt as of Sept 08 - £15,000 / Nov 08 - £13,5000 -

Fingers crossed for you!!
I'm on CD26, unfortunately I don't know how long my cycle is as it's the first since coming of Prostap injections, I did a test this am (because they're there and I had the urge :rotfl: ) but it was a BFN, not really surprised, as I said, I've no idea how long my cycle is, so it may've been too early0 -
Hi guys,
I am celebrating today, cos I got a line on my OV stick that was DARKER than the test! :j
Hopefully, our 'efforts' last night will be productivebut taking it one step at a time - at least I am getting an LH surge. Now I need to see if my luteal phase is long enough. Hopefully I'll be pg and the question will answer itself!

Woo hoo Annie, that is great news! Fingers crossed for you hun. Maybe another "go" tonight will ensure some good news for you, lol! Its reassuring that you have ov'd, so that is really good news!

Well, Fairy Elephant, I have to tell you that you are now not the only one who cant do IVF this month!!!!!!!!
I have had my scan this morning, and my follicles have done who knows what!! I am only on day 6, but I have a follicle ready to pop - far bigger than it should be and ready to ovulate, and two others at the right size for this stage in the cycle - the lining of my womb is consistent with day 6 - so even if I had a good egg in the follicle, my body isnt ready to coddle it!!! OOOOPS!!! - am I confused??? completely and utterly!!!
I could have continued and had the egg collection on Friday, but they didnt really think it was worth it, too many variables and odds definately against conception.
Still, I did have a good chat with them, and some of the info I thought might be of use to u's lot
Now apparently, whatever our age and circumstances, we do not have textbook cycles every month!!! All sorts of things happen - eggs pop out at the wrong time, follicles are empty of eggs - egg might be naf, lining of womb not right, etc etc etc - this is COMPLETELY NATURAL and we dont know anything about it unless we are scanned, as I was today. This means that we are not physically capable of getting pregnant every cycle, even if we were at our fertile peak. So people that fall pregnant straight away, are more LUCKY than SUPER FERTILE as they happened to start trying on a good cycle.
She explained that conceiving is more about perseverance and making sure that everything was right for the good cycles that we get - the most important thing was to TRY NOT TO GET STRESSED - she said that if you are too stressed the body will not let you get pregnant as your body cannot cope with it. Also to make sure that you enjoy your life, your partner/kids and not concentrate solely on TTC to the exclusion of everything else, and try to be as healthy as you can be - eating/exercise.
The sperm and egg will get together most of the time if you are regularly BDing, so just enjoy your life try not to get too hung up on it all, and IT WILL HAPPEN in the vast majority of cases. And obviously, if you are still trying after 6months/1 year(depending on age) then seek help.
Sorry that this has turned into a bit of a sermon, but I felt that this info was of use to all of us - we are all getting really hung up on each day of our cycle and willing it to happen, when maybe if we relax and let nature take its course, whilst making sure that we are as healthy as possible we would have an easier time of it - That said, I must confess that I am as guilty as anyone and should heed the advise myself. so from today, this is what I am trying to do!!!!!!
Babydust to all - LiloLive on £4000 a year again for 20110 -
Thanks Rosie!
Thanks to you as well, Lilo. That's something I didn't know. I wish I was less stressed - about TTC as well as everything else stressful in my life. I want my insides to be baby-friendly!0 -
Thank you so much Lilo, fantastic advice and on that note i am going to bed, we may make love rather than bd, or we could just sleep. I am going to try and not come on here tomorrow, although having just been told that a very good friend is pregnant i am a little confussed about my feelings, i didn't know they were trying and apparently they weren't, now i am thrilled for her, but just wish i hadn't decided we needed to try!
Very sticky baby dust to all and a good night.Leopardlady

Thanks for that info lilo, its really good to know that the people we all thought were super fertile are actually just lucky!
Now can I ask an embarassing question? I am blushing just thinking about typing this but here goes.....
If a woman doesn't reach the big O during bd you can still get pregnant, can't you? I know this is probably a stoopid question but something I read in the paper yesterday has played on my mind and I can't stop thinking about it. Well I hope its a stupid question anyway!:o
Hope everyone has a good day!
